Honestly, one of the main reasons I highly prefer Stenberg is because the Sharks would benefit from him, but the Hawks need him. So if the Sharks don't take him and he falls to Chicago, then that could really hurt us for a long time.
I hope it's Chase Reid who the sharks draft a 2nd overall. Yes I undersrstand Stenberg to a lot of people is looked at as the drafts second best player behind Gavin McKenna, but a player like Chase Reid is someone Grier has been looking to add to the blueline for quite some time.
He's 6'2, elite skater, elite hockey IQ, great passer, great shot, and has a lot of confidence for an 18 year old defenseman. Sharks may never get an opportunity like this again to draft a defenseman in the top five, maybe it's just me but I can't see Grier not taking him, he's talked so much about wanting to improve the blueline, now he has the opportunity to do it.
Stenberg completes the sharks offensive rebuild
Taking BPA denies our competition access to the BPA, and Stenberg will be the BPA at 2OA.
@NASA… thats a little too much for the #4 pick.
I just dont think warso would give a young defensemen a fair shot. It speaks volumes when he played klingberg and leddy over muk and dickinson.
I think stenberg is a better fit
48:51 pick 20 discussion begins here
I think they'll take Reid.
Greir is a poker player. If you think you know what he's gonna do it's either a fait or he's holding aces.
I'm betting Greir takes Stenberg if he stays at #2. He's not gonna take Reid without moving to 4 and getting something from Chicago at the same time.
I have the feeling if we pass up on Stenberg then he is going to go on the Hawks and become their next Hossa.
57:00 I think Misa would be an easy #1 in this draft honestly. The production is on par with Stenberg and McKenna, the slight hieght advantage, the 200 ft game, and most importantly he's a center. If there's people that think Malholtra is a possible #2, than Misa would be an undisputed #1
Funny you say best development spot for Misa and Dickinson but Warso undermined their development I’d put Muk in there too
Best intro ever!
I've yet to hear anyone explain how Lin isn't a top 5-10 talent in this class? How in the world is this guy not a guy you move up for if he's in the late teens? Great puckmover though limited offensive talent, high end compete, smaller but engages physically, high end defensive reads, production on par with the top d-men in the class. Seems insane that he's so underrated and no one will say what makes him a 18+ overall player
carels will be teammates w/ verhoeff at nodak next season.
For me it’s BPA all the way which is the most projectable and talented prospect on the board which at second overall will be either McKenna or Stenberg.
I find it interesting that if McKenna slips Sheng and everyone else says the pick must be McKenna. Why?
Almost every scout thinks the difference in talent between McKenna and Stenberg is negligible. If that’s true then why on earth is the difference between McKenna and Reid so much of a leap making McKenna automatic?
I understand and will not argue the Sharks could use more talented prospects in their pool at RD, but they also need a top LW to play with Celebrini sooner rather than later and they only have two young LWs in their entire organization other than Goodrow.
I just find it odd that only one of the two top wingers in this draft is a no brainer if he slips to you but the other is not because of the need at RD.
I would love someone to explain that to me.
The reason so many pick bust is because folks over value upside and under value the floor.
Reid a fine pick at #2
