The Olympics may have been the genesis of an evolving power shift across the NHL. With Larkin submitting his trade request yesterday, are we about to see the same with Hellebuyck and the Winnipeg Jets? Why might Hellebuyck’s move shift power in the league? Is this the start of a new trend among NHLers who’ve traditionally stayed complacent and quiet? What reporting would support the notion a trade request is imminent? If the Jets truly do start the rebuild, how would they do so, and what would the first few moves potentially look like?

So we are going to 23rd from 32nd? Alright.
If the jets were honest with themselves they would realize they are a few pieces from having a true stanley cup contender in the near future. I would trade Hellebuyck while his value is high and get younger assests in order to stay competitive while players like Scheifele, Connor and Morrissey are in their primes. I could see Hellebuyck going to Florida, Buffalo or even Utah. The Jets need a good return because i believe Chevy has had more than enough time to make a more competitive team.
in response to no Stanley Cup ring Dylan Larkin or Connor Hellebuyck has ever won ( 3:31 ), neither player, unlike Connor McDavid of the Oilers, has ever even played in a Stanley Cup final. McDavid, during the last Olympic men’s ice hockey tournament, won silver with the relevant Canadian team in a game decided in the first OT period.
I must reiterate, there’s no guarantee a player who signs a contract in the NHL team will get to win a league championship series or even play in one. Hellebuyck with the Winnipeg Jets has appeared in only one conference final, back in 2018, with the next opportunity to appear in one unavailable until at least May 2027. Larkin has appeared in just one NHL playoff series during his entire career playing in that league, making it understandable, after 10 missed postseasons by the Red Wings, of his having claimed to have wanted off that team.
Before the rebuild starts Chevy needs to go. 15 years, limited success, he’s had his turn. The team needs a fresh start and a new direction. Management is too close to the players to make the hard decisions. Embrace the rebuild, go all in on it and the fans will give the team support.
I would be OK with a trade to the Panthers for their 9th overall pick, their 2nd rounder and Mackie Sameskavich. It's certainly not 100% of Hellebuyuk's value, but it's enough. I do think a trade to Utah or Buffalo or San Jose would yield a bit more.
If he Jets picked 8th and 9th, and were able to snag Albert Smitts and Viggo Bjork, that would be a success draft, for sure. From what the prospect analysts are saying, Smitts is NHL ready. That could make Samberg tradable for another young asset or late 1st round pick.
There are trade scenarios out there that could put the Jets in a good position in 2027-28.
And… there are plenty of average goalies out there that are available: Adin Hill, Filip Gustaffson, to name a couple. We just need league-average goaltending if the rest of the team improves.
Dreger is closest insider to Jets if he gets something it's usually right. And I did see him say on Barn Burner about Larkin and others going to be more vocal on trades/own brand kind of how NBA is hopefully not super teams though. We do have cap.
So far it's only been Americans I can't imagine a Canadian say McDavid trade me to Pittsburgh so I can play with Sid. I feel it's only Americans/guys who know each other for now.
I don't think it's a good thing and teams should hold and make them play especially if young what if Bedard said I want to go play with Celebrini.
Or when they say there's no Tampering but yet everytime whether it's having Guerin as GM team USA. Or In Hellebuycks case nice weather/Maurice. The Marner situation him talking to players behind scenes.
All is kind of tampering and I think if guys call their shots where to be traded in future it's bad for league.
Similar NBA there's Lakers/top teams but it's hard for Sacramento,Washington,Charlotte be competitive.
Or what it a top draft pick example McKenna says like Lindros I'm not playing for you it's been a dream to play for Florida it's only team I'll play for and teams skip on them.
Helly for Cossa and Larkin. I would pull that trade in a heartbeat.
At $8M no one is going to trade for a choker. If Jets CAN get a deal then take whatever is offered. Else, release the guy.
