Dylan Larkin Requests a Trade: Should the Bruins Go ALL IN?

1. What do you think Larkin would cost?

2. As a Wings fan, this is a gut punch but the Yzerplan has worked out as well as the Van Der Linde plan on RDR2.

3. Larkin has a full NTC. The return Detroit can get will be impacted by how many teams Larkin is willing to open it up to, and what those teams are able/willing to part with for him.

4. Heard the news and I’m salivating. Give Detroit whatever they want as long as it isn’t Pastrnak or Hagens. Everyone else should be on the table. Even Minten, as much as I love him.

7. If he really wants out the asking price will be way to high but it’s definitely worth thinking about. Zacha a first and a top prospect probably does it

8. The Bruins need help on the back end as much as they need a 1C but they only have enough assets to do one thing. There aren't any compelling D-men on the market (who they can afford) and trading for one would cost almost as much as trading for Larkin. Larkin would obviously help now and he is 1 year younger than Pasta so he fits Pasta's window exactly, but can you give up 2 firsts, Zacha, and one of Hagens, Minten, or Letourneau (plus Poitras as a sweetener probably)? And still need major help on the back end and be left with no way to address it?

   Can you give up slightly less to get into the top 10 this year and get a defenseman who can play within a year, and then what? I guess give up most of the rest of your assets in a trade for a center who's a tier lower than Larkin, or to trade up in NEXT year's draft (Toronto ain't giving us next year's pick, I guarantee it) and get a center who could make an impact in year 2? Or put all your hopes on Letourneau becoming that center on the same timeline (1 more season at BC, 1 season between Providence and Boston, and then in year 3 become an impact 1C)?

   I do not envy Sweeney's job.

9. Do it do it do it. This seems like a golden opportunity that just landed in their lap, Zacha and picks would hopefully be enough if Larkin wants to come here and the Bruins would have some leverage to be able to keep Dean and Hagens. PLUS he knows McAvoy and Sway from the Olympics and that could be a good reason for him to want to come here having won it all with those guys

10. Go for it but I would imagine Larkin wants to go to a top Cup contender.

15. I'd like to see Boston somehow swing a trade to make an improvement for next year. Larkin would be awesome. I think Boston needs to somehow address one of their needs this offseaon with hopefully not giving up too much of their future. It's going to be tricky, I'm staying optimistic that Sweeney can work some magic

20. Very timely opportunity for Boston, but sadly a mismatch.
    Larkin wants a cup and Boston is not a contender anymore.
    At 29 he is not going to want to wait 3 years for Boston to get back there.
    He is exactly what we need and want, but Boston is not what he needs or wants right now.
    That and Detroit would ask for prospects we, fanbase, would not want to give up.

    Just another offseason pipedream and something to talk about in the lul.

21. Laughing at the ideas some got here giving up picks for an older player when we aren't close to contending. Larkin is going to a contender after all he wants out of a team that is in thesame position as the Bruins

25. Would like Boston to complete the trade, Detroit will have plenty of offers. I’d say McAvoy, Zacha and a first round draft pick. I see Minten as long term Bruins center.

    At the very least, the B's need to explore his trade cost. BUT, not at the expense of ALL the kids at Providence.
    I've mentioned in past (other's as well) that Lindholm is injury prone and not as much of a standout as Larkin!
    NOW, what would I give up? Hmmm.
    I'd give up Zacha and Poitras. Maybe Zacha and Latourneau. I'd be reluctant to give up to many draft picks. NOT a 1 plus two guys.
    I'd like to hold onto Hagens. to be fair tho… the B's usually do NOT outbid any other seriously interested team. AND Other GM's are more likely to move Draft picks.

29. Not going to happen. Detroit will get plenty of better offers from teams outside of our division.

30. I would love to see Dylan Larkin in a Bruins uniform. There are 2 questions to address relative to this – 1) Would the Red Wings trade him to one of their division rivals? and 2) What would they ask for in return?
    The answer to #1 is the Red Wings would deal with anyone if their return was enough, to their minds. The answer to #2 is where things get dicey. I think they will ask for at least 1 quality starter and will push for an additional draft pick. Now, what should the Bruins be willing to give up. I can't see the Red Wings not asking for Pavel Zacha and another young player. I'm sure they would ask about Hagens and/or Minten. This could be in addition to a high draft pick. My feeling is the Bruins could package Pavel Zacha and Mason Lohrie and a 2027 second round pick. Whether this carries weight depends on what other teams are also willing to offer for Larkin. This will be interesting to see how this plays out. On my no trade list would be Hagens, Minten, LeTourneau and, possibly Poitras. That means that Fabian Lysell and possibly will Zellers could be part of a trade package. We'll see.

31. I completely agree with you. Dylan Larkin is an exceptional opportunity to elevate the BRUINS' offense back to a level of danger that will command respect from opponents.
    Two crucial conditions:
    – that the BRUINS add size to the third and fourth lines
    – that the BRUINS acquire a big defenseman who excels both defensively and in transition.
    That said, I don't think Larkin will be naive enough to believe that the current Bruins roster will deliver a Stanley Cup within the next three years. We can't blame him for that.
    And as long as Don Sweeney is GM, I won't believe it either.

32. This is easy. 1st + Mittelstadt + Zellers/Poitras +Lohrei/Brunet. Let them pick and send Mittelstadt to make the cap work
