New York Islanders Mathieu Darche MISTAKE Led to Anders Lee Hitting Free Agency?!

1. I can see Lee feeling a bit insulted by the signing of Palat, the Schenn acquisition was for a combo of experience, leadership and protection of the “stars” / teammates. Yes Lee did drop the gloves which was admirable but be real, were any legit fighters worried about him or anyone else on the isles ? You don’t think that Lee had planned to test the waters the entire time ? The pond hockey game was very telling ! Let’s see, an expensive house in GC on LI with its own PD, shopping malls and decent food nearby, oh and the it’s on the border of 3 crime riddled towns or a mansion with a “hockey pond” in Minnesota ? Yeah tough decision for a guy whose career is almost over.

2. Sorry guys but palat and schenn have nothing to do with lee. They could have signed him at any point before they got here. It's been obvious, especially after extending pageau, that darche saying we'll see where we at with him thru out the season, meant it would be on his terms only. Lee's legs are shot. Anyone with eyes can see it. He had 10 takeaways in 82 games playing mostly top 6 minutes. Shabanov who was scratched and hurt alot of the year, and drouin who didn't last the year, had more takeaways. Even palms who only played into November had 8 to Lee's 10. Hope Darche doesn't buckle on this

3. Guys, what are you complaining about? We all been talking smack about Lee and not signing him. If he’s not back means we will see more of what we have in the system. I’m all for letting Lee walk. The entire fan base is sick of the same 45 point player for 8 years. Enough already. If anything, this is more of a sign that we’re looking for a much better upgrade.

4. Letting a 36 year old Player in decline walk who wants more money and Years than He is worth is not a loss and is what good organizations do

5. Adding some age and experience to a team that everyone thought was making the playoffs is a bit different than signing Lee for another 3-4 years at 5 million per. Do we really think Lee's agent is asking $3mm for 2 years. Stop. He feels he is giving them a discount at $6.5mm and 3 years. Who is being inconsistent here, Darche or all the fans crying we need to get younger?? Schenn costs $2.5mm next year, we forget he unloaded Drouin's $4mm. Palat was a mistake and hindsight is 2020, brought in for the playoffs that didn't happen.

6. I hope Anders gets what he wants. It makes not signing him easier if he’s out looking for a better deal.

9. Addition by subtraction. Lee is finished his numbers every year tell you that. If it were up to you 2 you would sign him to 7 for 21 and perry for 5-25. Let's get older and slower. 10. I think you guys are making way too much a bigger deal of this. We don't know what's going on inside the locker room, we don't know what's going on inside negotiations to trade for players.. Maybe Palat and Schenn were the only real choices Darche had with the assets he was willing to give up. Should they have traded Lee at the deadline ?? Sure, maybe but then you'd have those people saying that it's "losers mentality" that we didn't go for it while they were in a playoff position. Even if they traded for a Thomas and gave up a ton of assets, do you seriously think they would have beat Montreal or the Hurricanes, or even Buffalo in the playoffs ?? Doubt it. Not with that defense. Then this off season, all would be crying that they traded away assets only to lose. In my opinion, Darche tried to add without blowing up the future. He kept all of our top prospects which will replace a Palat next year if he's still all season, and others. !!!

    WE DON'T KNOW THE INNER WORKINGS. It's easy to judge from the outside.

    We also don't know what kind of negotiations have been going on with Lee and Darche the entire season. It's all speculative. If Lee is looking for more than 2 years at more than 4 million per, as much as I love the guy let him walk. Use that money elsewhere.

    I know it's the offseason and we're looking for any type of news to entertain us, but getting this crazy over 36 year old who has been on the decline is a bit much.

11. I can see Anders playing for the Rangers. They lost a lot when they traded Krieder, and Lee can fill a large portion of the void he left.

13. Signing Drouin was a big mistake. Signing Romanov for EIGHT YEARS was a huge mistake. Palat and Schenn were big mistakes. Resigning Pageau was a mistake. I sincerely hope Darche doesn't compound his awful Islanders start by resigning Anders Lee for too much money and too much term
