The Dallas Stars made a seismic move on Tuesday, announcing they’re planning to build their new arena in Plano rather than Downtown Dallas. Mike and Sam hear from Stars fans and what they think of the move.

  1. Uptown is healthy enough to survive on it's own. Victory Park can pivot to cater towards local residents rather than out of town sports fans and event goers. Downtown can realize that the office model is dead and pivot to residential. It's a much healthier model that could potentially lead to more authentic more vibrant neighborhoods. This everyone has an opinion about downtown can stop and hopefully a more modest development plan for downtown that doesn't bank on big ticket projects that assume large volumes of car traffic can commence. Because it's clear people from far away cities don't really want to drive to there and will dunk on downtown all day to prove it.

  2. I live in Glen Rose and now I drive 1,5 hours but for sure I will not drive to Plano. They will lose lots of suburban fans. So basically sports become only for Dallas area fans. Good luck! As everything in this country in favor of minorities! They can build a new arena in Arlington where there is lts of space to build a bunch of stuff and that could attract even more fans that is only 45 minutes from different corners of Texas. But no, only for rich Dallas Americans!
