Every offseason the same rumour goes around. Why are we bothering to even address it ?
Makes less sense when you realize the islanders after this upcoming season will have about 40 million in cap space when you take into account expiring contracts and the cap increasing

To trade him is an admission of failure in never getting the players to maximize his skill set.
Barzal also has a 22 team no trade clause. Not that makes it impossible to get him to drop it, but on the surface, it makes things more difficult, and trade options limited.
Idk why everyone is freaking out, this team is no where close to a cup. Trading him and adding players on 48s timeline makes sense.

This is nonsense! If The Islanders want to Trade Barzal they should be trading him home to The Canucks for the 3rd overall for starters! You want to get your right shot D to play with Schaefer? You get The Canucks 3 rd pick and select Chase Reid! The deal can be expanded but the 2 mains are Barzal to The Canucks basically for 3 Chase Reid. You have just set your top 2 defenders going forward for years. A big no to EP40! No to Lee! Keep pick 13 and pray Viggo falls to us at 13! Trade Pelech to The Sharks plus to get William Eklund if not available then Pelech for pick 20 and Q Musty. Any deal can include Shabanov rights, Duclair, Palms, Engvall, Palatt, Kyle Mac. Leaving the Draft with Chase Reid , Viggo, and Eklund would be Huge. If not Eklund then pick 20 and Musty. No to signing Lee ! Giving away a 2 nd in 2027 to rid of Palatt’s 6 million a Bailey type deal for future considerations. Yes most love Barzal but he is playing right wing and wants to play center! Yet he can’t win a faceoff, is a human give away machine, and rarely back checks. You convert Barzal into Chase Reid for starters and You have yourself a very nice deal for starters. .
Hi Matt and Mitch. I don't know why both of you look at Barzy like he's Wayne Gretzky. He's not. Even the greatest Player of all time was traded. I read the Ottawa Citizen article. Nowhere in it does it say that the Isles or Ottawa have spoken about a Barzal trade. At this point can we agree that Barzy isn't a #1 Center in the NHL? He's not even the #1 Center on the Islanders! Could you live with him being traded to SJ or CHI for the pick that gets you Caleb Malhotra, who may be a #1 Center and a player? Currently we have so many Centers that three of them are playing wing. At some point things have to change. Right now Barzal is our most attractive trade chip, unless Darche waves Schaefer around. In the end, probably nothing happens.
Anyone is tradeable for the right package. Gretzky and Babe Ruth were traded Barzal is tradeable.
