If what the Rangers are doing is a "retool"& trying to make the POS next year, then trading Trochek makes no sense at all. If it's a rebuild then it makes sense. The Rangers are very thin at center as it is with little on the farm & a shitty FA center class. Laba could be the 4th line center or he could switch over to wing next season & maybe Edstrom could be the 4C. With Mika, JT & Troch as the Cs, that is a strength down the middle.
Toronto really needs a 2nd line center.Maybe we can work out a deal for Knies.Their new GM said everyone's available except Mathews.
Id rather trade the late first rounder plus, for a top line winger, not another bottom six guy but a legit top liner. Not sure who you have to add bit maybe .. a berard or sykora if ur not going to use them. Id live their energy, but of we dont play them, lets use them another way with the pick for a sniper.
Trading any quality player only "makes so much sense" if what you get back makes the team significantly better.
There's simply not much out there.
Talking about trading Vinny AND making a playoff return sounds like a contradiction.
The only situations I have heard that make ANY sense are either trading up for San Jose's #2 pick, or dealing to bring Knies in from Totonto.
