Hi Mitch and Matt. I hope you guys and your families have a great weekend. Just a few comments. Yesterday you were under the assumption that Darche consults with his Coach before he makes a trade. I can 98% tell you he doesn't. The GM gets you the Players . It's the Coaches job to use those Players. Maybe if Darche is looking at a no name Stars Player he'll ask. That's why GM's keep their jobs longer than Coaches.
I don't believe Vegas is giving up Dorofeyev. Maybe you can get Barbashev.
When is this team going to move on and get serious? I love this team, but the management scares the heck out of me.
MAYFIELD. SHOULD. NOT. BE. ON. THE. TEAM.
It is painfully obvious that Ryan and Mitch have access to some SERIOUS strength pharmaceuticals…and they don't intend to share. Naughty..Naughty. Where to begin…I suppose we can start with Duclair. The Islanders spent the entire new year up to the trade deadline shopping Duclair…no takers…at this point Duclair is nuclear waste…you can't pay anyone to touch him! On to Dorofeyev…honestly this one nearly had me rolling on the floor laughing…have you two watched the playoffs? An offer sheet compensation for this kid would START at: A first, A second and A third…your offer is Pelech and a first. Just out of curiosity what do you do AFTER McCrimmon stops laughing hysterically? We can wrap this up with the obvious….after watching Eklund you can pretty much guarantee that DeBoer will pencil the kid in to the top nine…so you need to rethink the player roster.
Just heard a story out of Montreal that it was ownership that fired Roy not Darche. If ownership is getting involved in hockey operations at that level I think we have a big problem cause those guys don’t know hockey.
Drugs, bro
Anders Lee: 2 years at $3.5 million per year. He plays his 1,000th game as a NY Islander.
Nope. Dorofeyev is 25 yrs old and scored 37 goals this year and 35 last year. He's on his way to being a perennial 40 goal scorer. Vegas is not trading him for Pelech and a mid round first. They could get much more for him from other teams but they are not trading him. Vegas has one of the best run front offices. They don't resign guys like Lee and JGP. They ship them out and go get guys like Eichel and Marner. They will get rid of whoever they have to in order to keep Dorofeyev.
Trade Pelech to San Jose for W. Eklund or one of their top forward prospects like Bystedt, Chernyshov or Musty. Trade our first this year and a B level prospect to the Devils for Nemec who has been buried on the third pair behind Hamilton and Pesce but has a ton of potential.
Don't waste any assets unloading bad players with bad contracts like Palat. Just waive them and if no one claims them send them to the AHL team. We're not going to be very good this year so we may as well just eat these bad contracts now instead of dragging them out even longer.
Stop thinking that making the playoffs is the goal. We have a generational defenseman in Schaefer. We should be building a team that can compete for the Stanley Cup. If you've watched any of the playoffs then you know just how far away the Islanders are from being a real contender. We need to make a lot of moves to get rid of old, slow and useless and bring in young, fast and skilled.
Mitch is nuts to trade a 2nd for Palat
Dont like any of these
A 2nd to send Palat to TB is nuts
