Avs scream mental weakness. Nate is constantly rolling his eyes at teammates. Not a leader, and certainly not captain material. They got lucky Minny was down their 1c and shutdown defensemen. Or maybe it was unlucky they advanced and got exposed in such embarrassing fashion. The series was a wrap before Nate took that puck off the leg.
Minnesota sent Brodin, Ek, Faber, Boldy, Hughes, Gus. That’s more than either of those teams. Colofraudo has zero excuses.
You can’t go by the regular season. Golden knights played most of the games with their 3rd and 4th goalie, they had a ton of overtime losses which matters when you compare points, and the amount of AHL players they had to use during the regular season because of injuries was insane.
Presidents trophy curse
We are just better we been injured all season and we peaked when it mattered knight vs canes
Stanley cup baby
Injuries? LOL, they couldn't get past the blue line and real estate hard to come by.
That's defensive talent, just like the Florida Panthers. Sorry, you need understand hockey before making a podcast.
Vegas ceiling was already high, Tort just elevated their already high ceiling.
Good commentary. But you left out the decision to change coaches when they did it. Vegas management is a win only team of their own. Sure Torts gets a lot of credit, but what woke Vegas up was the decision to change coaches. Vegas improved the next day after a 1-7 run that ended Cassidy's run. They finished 7-0-1 beating Colorado before the season ended. And they have played at that level since that decision.
Colorado Avalanche choke
These clowns really just said the team that got swept wouldve won if both teams were fully healthy. Did you not watch the games at all?
The golden knights are not playing the John Tortorella system, they're playing the Bruce Cassidy system and excelling at it.
John isn't lying when he said he didn't change anything when he came in.
it's crazy how mark Stone had more goals than Nate and Cale combined and the same number of points as them for the whole series.
As an Avalanche fan, no excuses. VGK deserved to win every game. They don't etch asterisks on the Cup.
I think the Avalanche were exhausted by the end of the Wild series. Thank you Wild!!! On & on the Makar MIA was nauseating. Every 2-3 minutes the announcers WHINED about it. I had to watch the games on mute.
Very proud of my Vegas Golden Knights!!!! This team means a LOT to this town.
Go KNIGHTS GO!!!⚔️🗡️⚔️
that Avs team was so mentally weak. you could tell in the post games nobody took responsibility it was just blame it on injury, the refs or lucky bounces. funny how you guys are mentioning coaching like torts was out there playing. he has boosted the teams confidence and is obviously a great coach, but y'all just never admitted Vegas we simply the better team its kinda just a bunch of L cope takes.
I think Torts gave the guys a different voice to listen to and a bit of a jump start, but if Hart and Karlsson had been around the last couple months of the regular season, the Knights would have cruised to the Pacific title with 10-12 more points. Hill was simply bad all year and Karlsson is one of those elite glue guys that can't be replaced..
Injuries
9:29 Both teams fully healthy, Vegas still wins. Just in like 6 or 7 games.
They got out coached.
I’m not a torts fan, I think he’s too old school, like Mike Babcock. BUT, Vegas is full of old school players, the “youngest” player is jack eichel who already has a cup under his belt and over 10 years of experience playing in the league. For a team full of players like that having a hard headed old school no BS coach is going to be the best because they are confident enough in their ability as a players to not let the coach rattle them.
You throw torts in Anaheim and it’s a disaster. I hope Cassidy ends up in LA.
Vegas played tough defensive fundamental. Finishing checks, blocked shots and protecting the net. All the goalie jad to do was his job. Disciplined Hockey beat pond Hockey and people cant accept it. Vegas refused to chase.
Full disclosure, as a VGK fan, I saw this sweep as (to borrow an analogy from Talkin Baseball when the Dodgers swept the Brewers in last years' NLCS) a skilled grappler in an mma fight where they just suffocated the big tough boxer/kickboxer who couldn't surface for air.
Injuries 🙄
1:41 excuse me what??? We’re not going to mention the Boston Bruins being the best regular season team In NHL history? How David (Florida) beat Goliath (Boston), and in that series a dynasty was born. Cmon seriously zero mention? One of the best series from the 2020’s so far
The Avalanche were too comfortable and thought they could win it all. They had a star stacked roster but they were dependent on certain players to win games. With 55 games won, it painted a picture that nothing was wrong, until they met a team that was hot at the right time, playoffs.
The coach was not prepared for backup plans thinking the team was safe going in as usual. The players were expecting a similar Vegas they fought in the past so they didn't think much of what's to come, only to lose it all in the end.
It was a domino effect where the team believed they were the best based on the total of points achieved, but actually struggled against the opponent they are matched up with.
Avs came into the series believed they would win
Vegas came into the series with a plan, and were prepared for contingencies
during the empty netters pod to start the playoffs Alec Martinez said vegas is built to beat teams like the aves
No the Wild wore them down before they got to Vegas and made them more susceptible to injuries
