I'd say he very much created that goal yesterday. It was a brilliant, difficult deflection from the high slot on a tame wrister from the point. You make it sound like it was an easy putaway on the backdoor. He's also still excellent defensively, which makes up for some of the missing points.
I'd argue his confidence is gonna be pretty high after these playoffs and he might be better next year. MacKinnon did say that he was getting better throughout the year. And that makes sense, given that he missed 3 years.
Lastly, he had 30 non-PP points in 60 games. I'd argue that's very much 2nd line material.
Landeskog had a 1.81 5v5 P/P60. That's about league average for a 2nd liner. That coupled with his still solid defense and how he improved over the course of the season, suggests he's totally fine on the 2nd line. This clip is punishing him for not being on PP1 and missing 22 games.
I didn't watch but if he's the leader in goals it's a team issue not one player
Adam…are you SERIOUSLY trying to say the problem with the Av’s this year was GABE LANDESKOG?!?
35 in 60 is slightly under 50 in 82 … it’s a tad below what a 2nd center should do, but very far from a catastrophe yet, even at 7 mil, because of the growing cap.
Let’s just say that i am a lot less worried about Landeskog than i was about Gallagher at roughly the same cap hit.
Gally’s contract is about to end next season, same with Anderson and Danault, Laine’s contract ends this season.
You could almost get 4 Landeskog for the current AAV of two healthy scratchs, a 4th liner and a 3rd line center !
Sadly his best is way behind him…time , age needs to be adjusted to contract
Missing so much context over some stat lines. He also had like 4 goals called back at the beginning of the year and was just getting dialed back in after missing 3 years. He really got going near the end of the season and was a great player in playoffs.

Gabe brings so much more than goals.
Issue is that he can’t skate anymore
