Identifying a NEW trade target for Sabres; Jordan Kyrou | The Jeremy and Joe Show

Jeremy White and Joe DiBiase discuss a new possible trade target for the Sabres this offseason, St. Louis Blues forward Jordan Kyrou. The guys discuss why he makes sense for the Sabres, citing a good cap number for 4 more seasons, young age, and good goal scoring pedigree. They analyze why a winger may fit better with the Sabres needs anyways, and discuss possible return packages as the Blues are asking a high price.

  1. He has a no trade/movement clause and is terrible defensively… every single player on the St. Louis Blues has a no movement or no trade clause don’t even waste your time calling them cause they’re not gonna waive their to come to Buffalo. Plus they would want Helenius, Mrtka, 1
St rd pick for a bum

  2. You'd think guys who get paid to cover this stuff would look behind point totals to call this guy a Tuch replacement. In a vacuum, he's not a bad player to have, but he's not a Tuch-like player.

Jeremy said 'take us off the table' for Trocheck, but I don't see why we wouldn't be in the market for a center upgrade, especially considering Thompson is better suited at wing (see games 6&7 v. MTL) and everyone wants to drop Norris at the first moment possible. Even more so if Jeremy wants McLeod out. Bring in a guy like Trocheck and 1) you get more of Tuch's all-situations contributions and leadership, 2) deeper at center allowing Ostlund, Helenius, Kulich to develop on the wings a little bit and get reps at center as needed through the year. Better planning than just tossing one of them at 1C or 2C.

At least Joe's moved on from dreaming that we'd be able to snag an elite 1A goalie out of the blue.

  3. Here’s a thought. The Blues weee pretty pissed when the Sabres claimed Ellis off of Waivers from the Blues, so why not include him as that “Top end Prospect” they’re looking for? They’re clearly starting to sour on Bennington, which means they’re going to be looking at goaltenders. So let’s offer them one in a trade that they were upset they lost. He’d play well behind Hofer, who looks like he may be ready to take the Starting position.

Should that happen, I know that everyone has basically written Levi off, but why couldn’t we give him that 3rd goalie spot in the rotation?? He’s shown in the NHL that he could shine, but the Sabres tried to ask for Too Much, Too Soon from him, then his numbers in Rochester were awesome, on a team that was weak defensively.
