New York Islanders a Playoff Team as Constructed?!

1. Isles need a really good RHD to pair with Schaffer and another young scorer top 6 type and a good dependable back up goalie to contend, Need to get rid of some dinosaurs and payroll

2. Isles fisherman jersey back next year 🎉🎉🎉 guaranteed playoffs.

3. This team is NOT a playoff contender. Romanov at best is a middle 6 dman and a 35 yo coming off a major injury is a lock for 30 goals.
   The rest of this old lineup is gonna be a year older, so at best its a wash.
   Can we please just do a proper retool? Thats how you get really better. And I dont want want to jist make the playoffs and that being a success. Success is winning the Cup, everything else is a failure and this currently constructed lineup is nowhere near a contender

4. Nah, it’s not enough. Changes need to happen to get to the playoffs. Not a playoff team. As of today. Scorer and a rhd

5. We need young scorers in the early 20s who can put up 35 plus goals a year. We must get rid of the old guys who cant perform period. Cizikas, engval, Mayfield and palat along with that bum shen

6. The playoffs are crazy fast. We are slow as a bag of rocks

7. Lol, no we're not a playoff team even with Romy and Palms. Maybe we could sneak in as an 8 seed and then get swept in the first round. But even if we were a "playoff team", is that the goal? Do we really just want to be a team that has a competitive chance at making the playoffs or do we want to be a team that contends for the Stanley Cup because those are two very different things. This roster needs to replace guys like DeAngelo and Palmieri with younger and faster and better players. We just might have a generational defenseman in Schaefer. We should be doing everything we can to surround him with guys who can help win a cup. Not guys who might be able to help us sneak into the playoffs where we don't have the firepower to compete with the good teams.
