getting mantha will not help the pens , getting eller would have helped and he makes 1/2 of what mantha got .
I don't know why but, I can see a world where during the olympic break, Geno posts a video through the teams socials where he announces his NHL retirement and that he'll go to the best bidder at the deadline to say thank you to the team and he'll be back (one day contract) to retire as a penguin so we can say thank you to him and then he'll play a season in the KHL wearing #11 just like he said he wanted to do it.
DK, if Dubas doesn’t add at least 3 NHL players 20 to 25 in the next few weeks with upside like a Koivunen or a McGroarty this offseason is at minimum a step backwards. Outside of an asset for Mantha and possibly Tomasino, he has gotten a bunch of AHL players with very low upside for the NHL and added it to guys like Acciari, Hayes, and Heinen which at most has late round pick value in trade.
Geno needs to get dual citizenship with a country with a roster spot for him for the Olympics.
So,package mantha at the deadline for another 2 bottom six forwards? We're like circling the drain on all of these bottom six guys. How about looking at some top end talent for once with your picks?
We've got the league right where we want them. Need to just sign a few more older injury-prone players and also some more players no one has ever heard of and we might as well lift the cup right now. When are we going to talk about getting rid of Dubas?

DK, this is a tank. It's a tank for McKenna.
Not a tank, but Dubas is not being overly optimistic about the unknowns on the team.
It just happens that this might increase our odds for drafting McKenna.
Even if we're Team Beauvillier, we're still going to have a competitive team with Sid on board.
DK, I agree with you about Geno. He has more than earned the right to decide when and where his career ends and it should be as a Penguin.
I think where as a fan I get really frustrated is, was Dubas has gone public and said he wants to win now, and none of these moves really support the idea of success anytime soon. Having another season go to waste for Sid is a crime! Getting all these draft picks and depth players is all great and greatly needed, but the true problems with this team still remain. They have poor goal tending and that's not entirely on the net minders, because they have absolutely horrible defence. With Jarry remaining, Graves, Letang and Malkin still chewing up huge portions of the cap, this team will not win. While I wouldn't hate Karllson's contract to go away, I still see value in him as long as Letang leaves. With malkin, we have watched his game go from a game breaking leader who could elevate the guys around him, to a guy that cannot. He needs pushed to the wing, he no longer takes over a game. Might be the only way Letang still has value, ask him to be a winger as well. None the less, no one is leaving from the old boys club, and there's no chance of a playoff spot………and really, do we want to see this team get dismantled by a number one seed?

Keep the top guys around, add low risk guys like mantha/beauvillier/tomassino/etc then fill in the rest with young guys and you have a roster you're trying to win with.. but if you don't (like last year) sell off what you can. I don't see Rust or Rakell going anywhere as loyalty to Sid. He needs real NHL players to play with

Most of this fanbase started watching when they got Crosby and haven’t seen any rebuild honestly. Us older fans remember what they had to do to get Mario and Crosby. Newer fans need to think of the pens as more pirates right now than penguins of the last 20 years. Hope they are more rays than pirates in terms of trading, drafting and developing lol
Mantha is just like graves. Giant, but soft like a marshmallow. He averages less than a hit per game. If you all are thinking he’s going to come in and be a physical presence, you’re going to be real upset.
The only thing the Penguins owe Malkin is this years salary. This cores time is over, at some point, you move on. If Malkin wants to keep playing, it'll be with a different team. It's what's best for the organization. The logo on the front, is more important than a name on the back.
