3. I'm with you on that if stenberg's there at 3:00 you pick him. You don't trade down. There's no need to do that. You're in draft mode. You're in draft mode for the next 10 years. Get used to it.

   We may over pay a bit. If 27 1st is protected we are projected to possibly pick top 3 next year. But we unload some major contracts we get stenberg and malholtra. San jose takes a gamble for next year to pick 3rd and they get a good veteran d and veteran C. I actually maybe dreaming. Lol

9. I think Toronto has to take McKenna. San Jose will take a defenseman and then there will be Stenberg for Vancouver and they have to take him. He's an elite player.

10. Do you guys think we would be able to move Demko with retention closer to his home to the Kings for their 17th and taking on some of their garbage contracts? I know EP40 is a possibility to go to LA as well, but Thatcher's contract is only 3yrs and is more manageable than Petterson's. Maybe explore a Hronek to Chicago deal for their 4th pick leaving the Canucks with a modest 3rd, 4th, 17th and 24th in the 1st round.

11. I'm not opposed to the kraken trade idea. Take the bpa at 7 and use 23 24 to take the Ruck's.

15. If Stenberg is there at #3 (which he won't be), you run to the podium and make the pick. Period. If he's not there, you take Carels or Reid. The only deal where a Canucks-Kraken proposal would make sense, is if you trade for Shane Wright (maybe Lekker + Minnesota's 1st + our 2nd rounder or 3rd rounder). That's my take.

16. What would the Flames and Kraken offer that's worthwhile for the Canucks to trade down. Canucks are in an excellent spot because if McKenna and Stenberg goes, then we draft a potential stud dman in Chase Reid, and if the Leafs/Sharks draft Reid, then the Canucks get McKenna/Stenberg…

21. I would pick Stenberg. He had more points in shorter period time. Stenberg racked up more points than gavin McKenna.

23. Trading down is risky because that's if we hit on the picks! If we don't and the players don't pan out, it'll look so bad for us and set us back even longer

24. Calgary can move up due to the amount of draft picks available. I do feel however bad for both Vancouver and Calgary getting screwed on the draft. I hope both teams comes out looking good. Mckenna will be ruined by being a leaf.

26. I doubt San Jose even ends up picking at 2. Defensemen take awhile to develop and San Jose is already in their competative window. If i was them id be looking to shop that pick for a NHL ready top pair defenseman. If I was the Canucks Id be calling them about possible packages that include Hronek +.

27. As a flames fan I would think very seriously about the offer you suggested Calgary’s 6 first round and one or two second rounders

    Its a pretty weak draft if you compare it to others.

31. Trade in div is fine. Edm offered a first and a prospect for silovs – Van turned it down, and got a 4th from pit. Utter stupidity

As a Flames fan, I'll defer to Conroy, as he's been making good decisions of late, but I wouldn't make this trade with the Canucks if Stenberg or McKenna weren't available at #3 (McKenna almost certainly won't be). It would make a lot of sense for San Jose to do a trade with the Flames, as we have defensive prospects plus the 6th pick, which the BPA is projecting to be defense. However, I've heard that what SJ is asking for in return is far beyond what Calgary should be willing to pay.

    Not sure about the organization, but Calgarians are very interested in McKenna, in particular. To get him, it would probably require making a deal with SJ for the #2 pick and then swapping picks with the Leafs, as Stenberg could be of similar or even greater interest to them. I just think that it will cost the Flames too much and most people don't consider McKenna to be a generational talent. With how well the Flames have been drafting of late, if I were Conroy, I'd probably just hold steady in the draft, unless the asking price for the top picks goes down. We'll get a solid player at #6 and, who knows, maybe we'll get another Gridin with our late first or one of our early second rounders.

    I hope that McKenna pulls an Eric Lindros on the Leafs, but it won't happen…

36. The Canucks have been picking middle of the draft for like a decade and have basically hit on 2 or 3 picks at most. They need to pick at 3 and take the best player available even if it’s a Dman.

40. If Flames could get Stenberg at 3, then yes I would trade #6 & #35 & #36. Some pretty excellent players are going to be available at 35 & 36. But if Mckenna & Stenberg are gone then not a chance because 3 to 10 are pretty interchangeable & not worth the price to move up 3 spots.
