The Bruins roster (as currently constructed) has three glaring holes: top-line center, top-six wing, right-side defenseman.
That’s still true EVEN IF Brunet and Poitras get promoted to the NHL full-time, and Hagens can hold his own as a rookie in the top-six.

I don’t see many (if any) realistic scenarios where the B’s fill all three of those holes in the same singular off-season, via trade and/or free agency.

Hopefully Sweeney has some magic tricks in mind.

  2. All were doing is delaying the inevitable rebuild. I dont care what Evan says, in 3 years were rebuilding. Hagens, Letearneau etc arent going to be ready for pastas prime and there are no trades for worthy players without involving them and picks. There are also no FAs that are going to get us past mid. We will pick 13 to 22 for 3 years and then they will have no choice but to rebuild unless they fluke out in the draft…..maybe. in the meantime im sure Sweens will hand out a couple bad contracts that will be comparable to the belesky, backes and Lindholm contracts, even if it takes a year or two to realize. Were fucked boys, im praying for a miracle. No one wants Lohrei, poitras, lysell for a first rounder, maybe zacha but hes our only real chip.

  3. Poitras is my favorite player really think he will be great I feel every time he gets the puck in offensive zone he was making a play idk what bruins r seeing

  4. Utilize the guys viewed as excess or not a fit and pick 23 to move up (likely with the Blues) to get a chance at a RD or a forward that falls if there is a run on D and use the rest to take a swing on a buy low RD, if you can use Zacha and our ‘28 1st get somebody who can be more valuable from a long term view

  5. Zacha to Vancouver? For what? Hey I know, DeBrusk! If that was announced I can see Court throwing his laptop across the room. Might even rage quit the Bruins and become a Leafs fan, loll.

  6. The Thomas rumors need to stop ! If you do that it puts you back where we were last year. Go after someone that has potential to be a top 6 center than mortgaging picks and prospects to get one guy . Instead pasta then for an elite young center or picks to go with a new core . But trading Thomas would be a big mistake .

  7. Easiest job in the NHL: GM of the Bruins. Boston fans eat up whatever Sweeney’s cooking.Remember earlier in the season management said they were building a team to be tough to play against in the playoffs. How did that work out ? Speed and skill with the right amount of grit wins more games than just having a bunch of tough guys that like to fight. It may work in the regular season but not so much in the playoffs.

  8. Why I get frustrated with you. You say Trouba is too old at 32. But if you can get him at 3 x4/5 that runs you to him only 35. How is that bad for a top 4 d when you have pasta making 12 for next 6 at age of 36? Been saying it all year, Bruins won’t win with Pasta and need to trade him when he is at his highest ever. Pasta has t won it with Bergeron and he won’t ever do it . Go young and get elite young skilled talent. . Hoping for Petterson , mctavish, Tippett, or merchikov in Philly . Trade pasta mcavoy Zacha and even swayman why their stock is high. I be calling San Jose and ask what you want for Misa and the 2nd overall pick .

  9. You say mctavish and Owen z couldn’t stay in the lineup for Anaheim, but they said the same with Zegras. Then he goes to Philly and becomes a 70 point guy. You go after players that are struggling but have potential because sometimes they only need a change of scenery. Aka Zacha too

  10. You guys need to give up this Thomas fantasy already. Not only is he not available, but the B's don't have the trade capital to even sniff his plate of lunch leftovers if he was. But hey, you can have Drouin for free!

  11. the front office, including GM Don Sweeney, has emphasized the need for improvements in speed, skill, physicality, forward depth/scoring, and especially right-side defense. They’ve publicly noted “work to be done” and plan to attack roster upgrades

  12. Bottom line: Expect a moderately busy offseason focused on targeted improvements (likely 1–2 solid free-agent signings or trades + re-signings) rather than a total rebuild or quiet status-quo summer. Free agency opens in early July 2026—things will ramp up after the draft. Outcomes depend on the market and how much cap they free up, but the intent is clearly for meaningful activity.
