Depends on the return vs who we are looking at and if he is selected before he gets to us.
I would say in this instance, no. Reason being, I would guess unless it’s a team like Carolina or Colorado, at the bottom of the the draft in the 1st round, willing to give up their first and a second (I don’t know their draft status as far as picks), I wouldn’t do it. Because most likely, the best you’d get to move down is a 3rd.
And getting a 3rd, is that worth moving down and missing out at the talent available at 13, I don’t think so. Stay put and draft your favorite player that is available on your board at 13.
The 2026 draft is basically a throwaway for the Islanders this year. Darche made sure of that. If they still had 2 firsts, I would’ve traded down that late first for a 2nd and a 3rd. That option is gone now due to some horrendous trades for Schenn & Soucy.
It was during the draft but not on the clock if memory serves me right for Romy.
A 13th pick is worth 2 late first round picks – see last year when Philadelphia traded the 22nd and 31st to the Penguins for the 12th pick (they took Nesbitt). Then the Penguins traded the 31st pick and the 59th (2nd rd) for the 24th overall from the LA Kings. So the Isles 13th should be worth about a 23rd and a very early 2nd rd pick or another late 1st rd. We probably could have probably moved up a few spots into the top 10 this year if we traded our 13 and Colorado's 1st, which is at worst a 31st overall.
If you wanna trade you pic for a win now RD there is only really two options: Hroneck and Hamilton, but I don't think doing business with a divisional rival is a good idea.
No
Liam Greentree for the 1st round pick..
We can only dream
