When all is said and done the NHL is in the entertainment business. LEAFS fans would lose their minds if denied access to players etc after a game. I'm actually surprised it has taken this long for the NHL to drop the hammer on Vegas

Why are the Panthers catching a stray? They always made players and coaches available after games.
Hawks not losing a pick is one thing but the fact the league welcomed back Stan Bowman and Joel Quenneville means the league just wanted to sweep the whole thing under a rug and the fact that another players court case is still going on and no one is talking about means the league won.

EF offered a good explanation of this on 32 Thoughts. Bettman sees that more media access, including mic'ing-up the coaches and players sometimes, is going to be a big part of the league's marketing. Every sport has a Netflix show or whatever.
All the teams were warned about this by the league office and Vegas f'd around and found out. Jessie got it right. This is a cumulative punishment.
It's funny that the nhl makes teams talk at the time they are most likely to get fined but yet the refs are told to not say a word
i think what gets me is that chicago got basicly no punishment for Kyle Beach which id agrue is much worse then not talking to the media/ what ever else they did.
