General Manager and President of Hockey Operations Bill Guerin & Head Coach John Hynes meet with the media for a final time to wrap up the 2025-2026 Minnesota Wild hockey season.
Guerins comments on how Hughes affected Fabers game is exactly how it happened in real time the very first game after the trade. It was great to watch.

AVS fan here-i thought all season you'd beat Dallas,& whoever won our series would win the Cup. And if you fix your 1 glaring need of top 6 center,& maybe add 3rd pair dman (& resign Hughes)-i could easily see Minny winning Prez trophy next yr,& having a great shot in the playoffs. I don't want that to happen as Colorado fan but the Wilds future is bright. I was very relieved at the deadline you didn't get Trochek-combined with us getting Kulak,Roy,& Kadri. And without a doubt losing Ek,& Brodin were huge losses. But some of you seem to think the AVS were fully healthy.
Lehkonen,& Malinski missed games 4,& 5. Granted I think you missed Ek more cuz he's an elite 2 way center-at least if he's at 2C he's elite. And you already had a lack of center depth. But that's why you have to have depth. Lehkonen,& Malinski are pretty close in caliber of players to Ek,& Brodin. Obviously they didn't miss the whole series but that's also why it's important finishing 1st. So we didn't have to go through both Dallas,& you. LA played us tough but sweeping them,& getting so much time off was a factor vs you having to play a much tougher opponent & getting far less time off. And Manson,& Kryvanta missed the 1st 3 games also. Not to mention Makar wasn't close to 100%.
Point is-you have a great team,& bright future. And IF you improve your top 6 centers-i have no doubt you'll win a Cup next few yrs. But you learned same hard lesson we've learned in past playoffs. Some injuries are just luck. We were missing Landyskog,& like 4 other regulars + OUR 2 TOP GOALIES in 2020 bubble but still took Dallas to OT of game 7 in 2nd round. Injuries can play a huge factor & sometimes you just get bad luck. But also why depth,& getting as easy of path as possible-especially in this division-can make such a big difference. If Minny had a Trochek-let alone Jack Hughes,Matheuws,etc-obviously things mightve been different. But you do often have to lose a few times to grow into Champions. We thought we were ready in 2021 shortened season.
Won Prez trophy & took 2-0 lead on Vegas in 2nd round-our 4th straight yr in the playoffs. But more experienced, mentally tough Vegas taught us 1 more lesson that helped us in 2022. Like Minny this yr-those AVS weren't super young or playoff inexperienced. But we didn't have many guys who'd made deep runs-conf finals or Finals & Vegas did. This yrs Minny is similar. Most your team has made the playoffs a few times-you aren't Ana,Buf,Utah,Philly, etc. But most your team also hasn't got deep yet,& probably had to learn 1 more lesson vs a team that's already won a Cup,played in 9 straight playoffs,& was just a bit deeper,& more comfortable in those situations. And definitely built better to withstand a few key injuries.
i trust Billy. Whatever he thinks is best is likely the best. There's no reason for you car salesman and office assistants to believe you know what is best. Billy knows what is causing the inconsistent play in the playoffs. Hopefully, he figures it out and we make a run next year.
At some point, the staff of this franchise (and the fans) need to stop accepting mediocrity. Game 3 to games 4 and 5 for the Wild showed severely opposite teams. You CAN'T make anything close to a deep run in the postseason with these geriatric veterans. Finally getting out of the first round, winning 1 game and then losing embarrassingly doesn't really feel like getting out of round 1…
I love this team, and I think we can win with zero trades.

Consistency is this team’s biggest weakness right now. Focus shifts from day to day, that’s natural. Minimizing the lows comes from building disciplined habits through repetition and reinforcement until the right decisions on the ice become second nature.

I have faith that Billy G will pull off another blockbuster.. 😉
I have been an Avs fan for 30 years since the days of Sakic and Forsberg (those were really good days). Having said that, I will be shocked if the Wild do not win a Stanley Cup in the next 2-3 years. Hughes and Faber are outstanding and I am a big fan of Boldy and Kaprizov. The gap between the Wild and the Avs is primarily at the back end of the lineup as shown how the 3rd and 4th lines came in big for Colorado. I am a big fan of Guerin but do not know a lot about Hynes. They add some depth, particularly with some speed and the Wild have a very bright future.
Had to drag myself to watch Wild games this year after last year ending. And to have an equally humiliating end to the season, I cant see myself having any interest in this team next year.

I was out on Billy G going into this year, but he totally redeemed himself this year in my mind. The McCarron deal turned out to be brilliant. The Hughes deal speaks for itself (especially since it appears he's going to get extended). The Tarasenko deal was a slam dunk win. Ryan Hartman continues to be a great playoff riser. The Nick Foligno acquisition was an underrated win.
Great year from Billy G.
The Jiricek deal was a clear L on his resume, but I saw the vision. Didn't work out. Hopefully Bobby Brink can turn into a decent contributor.
Love that 3/4 window open analogy. Got to open it all the way . I believe we have – 3/4 years to finally get a cup .
Fabers evolution this season is top tier. Its amazing.
Get a center morons
I am along for the ride! I can see the future for the Wild and it is bright! 🌟🌟🌟
I love Billy G but where is this cap space he's speaking of? They only have 12M for next year and 8 UFA's to replace. He already spent next years cap increase on Kaprisov. Is he going to spend the following years increase on Hughes and have 35M tied up in two players? Kaprisov got paid like he's the best player in the NHL. Billy set a high contract bar to live with. I know Kaprisov supposedly turned down 16M but Rantanen and Marner signed for 12M and Eichel for 13.5 and the 4 of them are comparable players of similar age. Billy should have held tougher on Kaprisov's ridiculous demands. He's created a difficult roster/cap management situation for himself.
They faced one of the best teams to ever play in the NHL. Colorado was simply a better team that I have a hard time not seeing winning the Cup.
That was…not super inspiring
