Okay, let’s get realistic for a moment here. There’s really only one way that Toronto might make Reilly + #1 to Vancouver happen—if Toronto goes off taking McKenna in favour of someone like Malhotra or Smits, they might be interested in dropping from 1st to 3rd, if they can swap Rielly for Hronek in the bargain. And maybe improve their bottom line-6 wingers in the bargain.
But without another high pick, I don’t see Toronto moving #1 anywhere.
But, it is Chayka, so who knows what craziness will emerge.
anyone rhat thinks the Leafs are trading that 1st overall is on crack, if they cant trade Rielly they can buy him out @ 3.5 for first 2 years and 2.5 for the 3rd and 4th years then it's lower than that only it will be on the books for 8 years total, or keep him and put him on 2nd or 3rd pair he is not a number 1 anymore.

Yes trading away a potential franchise winger for the sake of Reilly cap dump to Vancouver is exactly what the leafs need….. first, would extra cap space be nice (yes but the leafs are fine with cap moving up now). 2nd this trade has to be the most ridiculous one I’ve seen so far since the leafs won the lottery. A more realistic trade would be a player for player deal, you talk about Reilly having negative value, I’d say the same to you about Elias Petterson $11.6 million for another 6 seasons. I’d say that is more of a realistic and fair trade since petterson is no where near that contract, van gets that cap space back and only has to deal with Reilly cap for 4 yrs vs 6yrs at a lesser hit per season.
