When you make bad trades and worthless signings like Treliving did, Berube is just as guilty by association. Neither of them made that team better.

You’ll likely never win a trade but AM is not going to win a cup in Toronto. You hopefully get a replacement 1C who hasn’t reached their peak. SJS makes a lot of sense with Misa as a player coming back plus. Marner and AM have had 10 years to step up and never did. Partially that’s on the team and GM not being able to build a proper team, part is on them not just elevating but taking every dollar they could so you didn’t have options for lines outside the top 6 and a proper D. Personally I ask AM to name 6-10 teams he would welcome a trade and work the phones before the draft. Go hard after players in FA and build a roster that hopefully can compete with a playoff spot and limit the damage of those traded 1st rounders.
Any logic that ends with the Leafs fans being to blame for players like Mitch leaving, and players like Matthews being a little unhappy, is bullsh*t. Hey Chelios! Plane and simple , the players weren’t playing , 9 plus years of falling short . 2nd round exits will not do . Player need to be accountable and earn their money. The Leafs window is closed it’s time for a rebuild . The Leafs must get build a winning management team . Pelly hasn’t provided that, will Chayka do it ? IMO I say no , let’s see what happens.
