GAME 7 FORCED as Buffalo Sabres blowout Canadiens in Game 6 win

The Buffalo Sabres facing elimination go to Montréal and stampede the Canadiens with an 8-3 win. It was arguably the most complete playoff game the Sabres have played all playoffs, with the only negative being Alex Lyon in the first period.

Led by a five-point night by Rasmus Dahlin and another stellar performance from Zach Benson, the Sabres new look lineup came to play. Especially the new top line of Benson-Josh Norris-Tage Thompson. Lindy Ruff decided to mix up the lines, and it worked expertly. Zach Metsa entering the lineup also was a good sign.

With Lyon having such a terrible first period, it was up to Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen to come in and save the day. While not tested a ton, UPL made some critical saves, and is now looking at being the starting for Game 7.

  1. Watching the game with my Girlfriend (she’s a leafs fans) Habs take a 2-1 lead and she screams YESSS I ask I thought you hated the Habs? She says yes I do but I can’t stomach the thought that the Sabres will go as far in 1 year as the leafs did in 9. It took the leafs 9 years to get to game 7 of round 2 it took us 1. Go Sabres

  2. Thought power was the calmest player ive ever seen in that kind of environment, never panicked and made some great decisions to skate the puck out our dzone!
But timmins was the best player, so so many ridiculous little plays that never see a score sheet. I found myself just watching him in our dzone. And most of the year while he was playing sparingly, i didnt think he really fit on our team cause of his lacking offensive abilities. But i was 100% wrong cause his own zone play , in rhat game last night, to me, LEGENDARY!!
We are going to NC on Thursday

  3. "Won't Ever Trust Either Goalie" ? What about some other factor, like rest? It's not just about being the "hot hand" or one is better than the other. It's about being sharp THAT DAY.

  4. Ruff finally took Schenn and Stanley off the ice. They are too slow to play against the Habs. He finally broke up Tuch and Thompson. Again, the two are too slow moving to play on the same line.

  5. This was such a good game. I loved the line changes, Lukk showed his best side, we took penalties sure, but it wasn't a constant MTL PP….. yes. We need that again at home. This W is W one on our next win streak. LETS GO!!!

  6. Could the difference between home and away success be attributed to the ice surface? Their passing completion % appears to be much higher on the road.

  7. This is simple. Sabres best game beats Habs best game, hands down. So you Habs fans just pray about it. A “God” can’t even get rain right, and it took him billions of years to put miserable humans on a miserable planet. Good luck with your hockey game!

  8. We better bring our AA game because Montreal 100% will, can't take any shifts off and stay out of the box. UPL's biggest game coming up, he can't fail. Montreal is in the Sabres head, we have to be beyond ready.
