@ brianstixx thorton came across to make his hit. He came out of the penalty box and was next to his target. Staal came out from the side boards and skated up and into Stajan. I have seen the Thorton hit many times and I believe it to be clean, however my only guess is that the league saw the size difference and because thorton is so much bigger, his elbow was directly lined with the other players head.
