  1. Great post. Fitzgerald was the problem along with the coach he hired. Really can not blame the players. It was management that blew the Quinn Hughes deal. The new GM has to be real sharp to fix Our N.J. Devils team.

  2. Dougie’s contract is going to be a lot easier to move than people realize. You didn’t mention the fact that after July 1 when his signing bonus is paid out, he’s only owed $5.5M in salary that season and $1M in salary the year after that. Very important detail of this saga. They’ll eat the July 1 signing bonus then whoever he gets traded to is only on the hook to pay him $6.5M for the duration of his deal. Considering the young crop of talent San Jose has, the need for a RHD offensive defenseman, and 42M in cap space the move makes perfect sense. Send him there for a mid round pick, work on a deal for a high end scoring winger for a package based around Haamenaho and Casey plus
