We’re going over what former Vancouver Canucks player and staff Chris Higgins alluded to about the trade status of Elias Pettersson, and whether or not he should get traded at some point.

time to get rid of this distraction
One more year to show he's not washed. Any sign of floating next season and he should be shipped out quick.
Asap
Which is the other player Jay is talking about? If he's talking about Stenberg he doesn't know what he is on about, it's more likely that McKenna will go the EP route.
Deal him and Markus to NJ for Dawson Mercer Hamilton and Nemec
Idk if it is worth it for the Canucks to try and rehabilitate Pettersson, but the idea that a 27 year old can't change is absolutely ridiculous. Whether or not he will change is something only time will tell, but the idea that a person's character is immutable at 27, man…
To me it seems like Pettersson had to go to work every day in a really bad environment. The leaders in the dressing room seemed to dislike him and if they actively picked on him as a young man, yeah, he is probably going to not want to put in the effort. Some people can rise to the challenge, but in what I have seen most don't. Most people in a bad workplace environment just stop trying. Like, we forget, these are young men we are talking about. To me, this is on management. They failed to manage their workplace, and this is the result.
Loui ericksson mentored Petey, now Petey will mentor Stenberg like he did Hoglander and Markus Pettersson to some degree. He needed gone 5 years ago, imagine the return back then ! keep supporting him though lol
EP40 needs to go to whoever thinks he can make a difference
Trade him, if he refuses to be traded. Bench him or put him on 4th line and reduce his playtime and lower his value on the market. Make him so no one will want him and ruin his legacy. His attitude and ethic have been the bottom of the barrel for years.
I was a staunch defender of petty for a long time. When people would trash him, I would comment in his defence.
Don't forget that petty did EARN that contract… But…
While I may like him overall, Vancouver could settle for an late first/early second pick and trade him when possible. That's the only way to get him out without retaining salary
I think Vancouvers fan base and Canada's hockey market in general is a lot tougher on players. Fans can be super critical. We as fans need to back off a bit and realize just how many players have no trade clauses to Canadian teams. Yes it's also the lower Canadian dollar, higher taxes, a talent drain due to expansion teams getting a more favorable initial hand when it comes to players and colder weather which fans can do nothing about. The one thing within our power is positivity.
Lou Erickson 2.0 we saw same plays as erickson Defense of center after signing the contract never lived up 11.6 give you 50 points season Buyout after next season still liked this
EP 40 is hard to move. Too expensive.
11.6 give you 2 players in returned package
Free EP!
Higgins is a legit guy. He was one of those players who really never mailed in an effort. I tend to agree with his point, but I still want to see what EP can do this season. It’s possible that he will take advantage of all the change in the organization and bring his best. Yeah, I’m an optimist by nature, but what the heck… we’re already paying the guy. Might as well find out if he’s serious about his career. No excuses now, the team has been cleaned out.
Higgens best season is around what ep40 is doing right now. Not sure a guy with 300 points total can be to critical of other people. I mean… He played for 5 teams.
This dude really enjoys Higgins
Ep40 is a soft marshmallow…. cant win one board battle. Can only score if wide open.
The preparation story is likely invalid as he still managed to play the bulk of the season and he led the team in scoring.
The more valid story is he's just not that good, and worse, probably never was. Everything early on in his career was inflated. From that opening 'He's the next Toews' goal, to Gretzky comparisons, etc. Just another sales job of false hope, on a guy who is clearly not a franchise center.
The idiocy is that the 'character' story become obvious when the team started to implode the moment EP40 was signed to that megadeal. So yeah let's blow up the entire team outside of EP40, THEN admit that was the wrong call.
Nothing will change for the Sedin President era. They'll probably draft Stenberg – say San Jose let him 'fall' – when San Jose is just passing on a longshot ceiling winger and going with a more certain defenseman, and everyone will be like, oh the Sedins know what they're doing, why will they lead us astray? Even though the Sedins have been with the org. for years already.
Stenberg falls to 3? Then pick up the other defenseman. He'll be the better pick. If not, status quo assured. Stenberg brought in to solidify team sweden and 'help' Pettersson, who shouldn't even need help if he's legit. (He's not.)
Stop listening to the noise
Pettersson #40 needs anotger player like Kuzmko to play with
I find it hard to believe he gained 6 kilos when he weighs only 176. He already was over 172. How would you trade Petey? Long contract over 11 mil a season. I will say we over achieved a few years back. We made it to the second round. So many thought our team was a lot better than it was. Taking out Cole and Zadorov exposed the team big time. Miller shot his load here and the rest is history. Like OEL we should keep EP40 and bite the bullet. We are in tank mode for a rebuild anyway. I don't want to kill the cap either. Petey is still good on the PP. Not counting on it but he could find his game and then trade him.
Can you imagine ep40 playing with rk17 or big babe?(44) Like omg he'd be in a mental institution having Alex Burrows translating for him.
Did Lego just come out of the closet? Good for you bud no shame.
