Could the past few days have gone any more poorly for the Oilers?

Could this situation have gone any more poorly for the Oilers organization? Who’s most responsible for Edmonton’s disappointing season? Can the issues with the Oilers be resolved quickly? TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss.

  1. I used to have a lot of respect for buttonhole, but not anymore, he has some good points, but he's definitely embellishing and exaggerating, and not even really considering the fact that the team that was almost decimated by injuries, and looked pretty damn good the last half dozen games of the season, they got jari for the playoffs and he allowed one goal in his only start, meanwhile Skinner didn't even finish the series for Pittsburgh either, it's not Management's fault that they end up losing value in paying Darnell nurse twice what he's worth, the three trades they made at the trade deadline were great trades, arguably the best available in their specific positions , only an idiot would dispute that and not give the team credit for those acquisitions, the players they acquired down in Bakersfield six of them show excellent potential, either to make the club or as trade bait, for a team that has been financially strapped, and not a lot of draft picks, personally I don't think the team is that far off once they're healthy and they enter next season with a new coach so they don't get out coached again, Craig buttonhole needs to acknowledge the positive with the negative, but instead he just wants to fire cheap shot after cheap shot, without actually acknowledge extenuating circumstances, maybe he's just envious and never got over the fact that the oilers embarrassed any team he was ever associated with,

  2. This has been a systematic dismantling of a once great hockey team. As an Oilers fan I wouldn’t blame McDavid if he decided to leave if things don’t improve next season.

  3. After days of “evaluation”, Stan Bowman looked at the Oilers’ 25/26 results, his own roster decisions, and somehow found himself not guilty.
Kris was managing the team through the crisis Bowman created. Bowman is the one who should’ve been fired. It’s easy to see once you compare the Oilers’ 24/25 and 25/26 rosters. Those changes were made by Bowman!

  4. If the Leafs were smart, they would trade Stolarz or Woll to Edmonton for a 2027 or 2028 unprotected Oilers first rounder. Oilers are on the downfall and that first round pick will likely be a bottom 5 pick.

  5. Kris Knoblauch is a heck of a coach there is absolutely no doubt about it. What did they win like 17 games in a row when kroblauch was hired? Bowman and jackson are to blame here. Absolutely not coach K. Come on now back to back finals 17 games in a row won and you fired Kris Knoblauch? KK is a AWESOME coach. He is that good.

  6. This guy's resume leaves much to be desired in the world of hockey. Why is he talking?

"There's no way they're gonna beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4 games………. I don't even think they can beat the Maple Leafs one game……" – Craig Button's assessment of MTL – TOR, which MTL won the series

  7. Craig Button is a liar. Go back and watch his coverage of the oilers, he trashed the 2024 team picking against them rounds 1 all the way to the cup. He trashed the 2025 team to and picked against them aswell. I hope the oilers make this fraud eat his words like they usually do.

  8. What's truly funny, it's how TSN and ESPN both keep screaming about what they know , when the oilers were losing every second game , they screamed they need a goalie, they get a different goalie , the they scream the coach made a stupid decision on its goaltending and should be fired , now it's the GMs fault , does anyone else see a pattern here. I do these arm chair coaches are always screaming about fk all.

  9. What a bloody mess, management is the problem, just one example C. Perry wanted 1.5ish to stay, this year 37 points, C Brown 3.5 mil, 43 points this year. Fredrick 8 year deal?? he made 4.05 mil this year did squat, 3 points in Edmonton, Mangiapane recorded 14 points, and made 3.5 mil this year. seven and a half million on two guys who did NOTHING. Their combined points are less than half what Perry did. It does not take a hockey genius to figure out you CAN"T pay more for a guy who performs less.
