Agree that Carels is the best overall D-man, but Verhoeff has a big upside too. Like I said before, I usually don't like undersized D-men but if he's there in the 20s for Rangers, I'd be really tempted to take Xavier Villeneuve because he is such a good skater & puck handler that it is amazing to watch him play. Maybe they could trade up to get him. My thought is that he could be converted to a forward if they think he's too small for D. He's got a tremendous array of moves, just magic on skates. More like Quinn Hughes than Zach Jones! I know Rangers need a forward, but the best ones will be off the board probably by the time they get to second 1st rounder. Morozov or Novotny would be good gets.

Assuming Malhotra is gone by 5, Carels and his all around game seems like would be a great NYR pick.
No undersize anyone in this draft. We need big forwards and big defenseman. Period
