  1. Just another example of mismanagement by Yzerman. This kid was the AHL player of the month January and they couldn't find a way to reward his success with a short stint to see what he could do. They will now lose him without knowing if he is the right guy to flip. Postava, Augustine, Guimond, Gylander and Cossa. Good problem to have but they wasted the draft pick then, will get less now. Lose/Lose.

  2. Wallstedt was offered as trade bait for Jason Robertson. So its hard to say who is going to wind up being the better pick.

Cossa has been good, but he is a large goalie and they rake forever to develop. Michel Postava just passed him. Postava has been insane since he turned 20 years old and has never posted under a .920 save percentage anywhere in over 4 seasons.

Do a deep dive on goalies 6'7" and taller and how long it takes them to develop and you'll be shocked. Only Jake Oettinger made it full time in the NHL before turning 27 years old at that height. Cossa might have 4 more years before becoming a full time NHLer and that would be STANDARD.

  3. Kosa getting traded this isn't a bad thing for cosa he may end up playing starter somewhere as opposed to backup.. wherever postava goes. That club will get a cup. He is that good

  4. In order for the Redwings to make a big splash, they'll need to trade some of the "prized" assets. Due to Cossa losing his waiver exemption, he either makes the team or is traded since he is too good to sit in the AHL for another year. If Quinn Hughes would have extended, Yzerman would have traded Edvinsson, so its not out of the realm of possibility that Cossa and others are packaged together and traded for an impact forward. I would not be shocked if Augustine or Postava are on the move either. It all depends on the return.

  5. He cant play for gr next season so duh hes on the move. He cant stay. Whos going to be augustines back up if postava is brought up and cossa is gone ? Cossa deserves a year in nhl.

  6. We cannot respect the opinion of a grown man in their 30's that is insecure enough to dye his hair gray to make himself look serious. Plus with the Wings his takes have been 98.6% wrong.

  7. Quoting Seravalli on anything is certainly a choice. If Cossa is traded? Fine. Let's see what kind of return we get. If Cossa isn't, it'll be interesting to see who is.

  8. Unless a teams vastly overpays for Cossa by giving the Wings something that can have an immediate impact on their roster that's isn't 30 something years old, there is no reason to trade Cossa. Wait until one of the goalies establishes himself as a solid NHL goalie before trading one of them. Goalies are such a crap shoot to begin with and good AHL numbers don't mean they will be good in the NHL. Give Cossa a chance next season as the backup. To spend these assets to move up, develop him for years and trade him once he is NHL ready without giving him a chance would be stupid unless the return is crazy.

  9. They will not play cossa in the playoffs because they're afraid he shits the bed and devalues his trade value. He's a Edmonton guy and will be very good there. Hope SteveY gets a good return.
