   I love Easton Cowan, but this is exactly the kind of trade a team in the Matthews window should at least consider. Trocheck gives the Leafs something they’ve badly needed in the playoffs: a legit pain-in-the-ass two-way center who wins draws, plays hard, and can handle big moments, while Schneider gives them a young top-4 right-shot D they can keep for years. Giving up Cowan would hurt, no question, but if you can turn one beloved prospect and a 2nd into a proven playoff-style center plus a young NHL defenseman, that’s the kind of move that helps Toronto now and later.
