These need to go. Mathews, Rielly, Carlo to say the least. Mathews wants to go to the States (San Jose), Get the second overall pic too. I think Neylandar is much more durable and better all round player and performs in playoffs. I would be happy if they can get rid of these three and we would have some serious culture change. Oh, the coach should go too.
Matthews, Nylander and Marner sucked up all the Cap space, couldn't produce when it mattered, and are now running away. The management traded Kadri, thinking two lines were good enough and wasted first round picks almost every year trying to get these guys over the hill and failed with every trade. This organization is a disaster, they don't have thier own 1st round picks for the next two years and I can't see this team improving with what they have and what is out there to get. Looks like we are giving away two high picks way again, like Burke. This organization is a clown show. Us fans need to make MLSE need to make competent changes by withholding our money and attention from the Leafs or this clown show is going to keep coming around every year like the local mall carnival. 😤
Sir Alec Ferguson who ran the powerhouse Manchester United Football Club for years, had an uncanny sense when to move on from his star players when they still had serious value, but were about to begin their decline. It's entirely possible at age 29 Matthews is at the same spot as many of Ferguson's star players & it's better to get max value now, given Matthews' seeming doubts about where he & his team is at.

I say to fill the cookie cupboard. Trade all the first liners (pending non trade) Mathews is washed up Nylander doesnt care anymore Tavares was never a quality leader. Re-stock with picks and or young talent. Start from the goalkeepers and out from there. These guys are injury prone anyway so see what u can get for them and keep the rookie, sign a dependable backup. Mathews doesnt decide (never been a leader either) so move him
I honestly think trading Matthews make a ton of sense. The team need a change.
Van bent over backwards to try & mollify Quinn Hughes over his misgivings about what the Canucks were doing to strengthen the team. It was all for nothing because he made it clear after all of that, that he was not going to extend & they had to trade him regardless. Don't want to see something similar with Matthews. The Leafs have 22M in cap space. Raddysh at his end of season presser seemed like he had determined an extension was not going to happen with Tampa. He's a Toronto GTA guy at age 30 (70 pts +21). There's your PP1 QB & he plays with bite. Sign him & Mantha & Tuch and lose Domi & Maccelli. Better team.

The Leafs have Mattews for 2 more years so McKenna should be put beside Mathews next season and please let's wait and see what happens! If things work out in my opinion Mathews will want to stay if things go bad then trade Mathews next a year from now! The Leafs will have the Acalanche's first round pick next year.

As a leafs fan I have to say RIP NHL I know I'm just one fan less but now I see it won't matter who or what they get as no one wants to play for this team
I think Matthews will stay and lets be honest every player goes through this thought process at the end of a bad season of where are we heading and should I stay as Matthews is not the only player in the NHL on his team to think that as at the end of the day every players goal is to win a stanley cup and if the leafs aren’t going to be competitive for the next 10 years mineaswell go somewhere else and win there and like I said I think Matthews will stay and resign next season for a similar deal of what Mcdavid sign or at least the same idea of I will give you 4 more years to get me in a position to win a cup if you don’t present it or have proof of the following seasons I will leaf the team which is what Mcdavid is doing and if we win a cup then Matthews probably sign even longer to be leaf for life
Given the fact that this has had its moments and their timeline is done another word they’re not gonna make it with this kind of players or what’s left of these players as a Stanley Cup contenders anymore. It would be wise for Toronto to see if he could get as much as possible for Austin Matthews, Morgan, Riley for sure and WILLIAM Nelander and anyone else’s that they’re over 32 and they can get something substantial for them knowing for well next year and the year and later they do not have first round picks but you cannot let Austin Matthews to walk away for free and he is not gonna sign with Toronto as a rebuilt and there is no way in hell this Team the way it is with his salary cap can compete for Stanley Cox anytime soon so take the best value for Matthews, Nelander, Morgan, Riley, or anyone of the older defenceman and pileup as many drafts as you can and then move forward and since there is a lottery, there is no guarantee that the lease would’ve had first round or second round in 2027 or 2028 the best players for a competitive team good enough to watch for few years and rebuilt the team and obviously correct Ruby is not the answer for that kind of a team so let him go and coach elsewhere his style is more effective. He was an effective in Toronto anyway, and the high oxygen players did not like his system. That’s my two cents for a guy that been watching hockey for 41 years. I knew the writing was on the wall even last year season they did the best they caught. The team wasn’t built properly time to revamp the whole thing.

Matthews is clearly not 100 percent in it. You have to trade him. Leafs can’t afford to lose him for nothing. Reilly is going to probably go as well. An expedited rebuild is the only option

9 years of playoffs and the first year he misses and it's suddenly he wants to leave. If he's that wishy washy then ask for a trade and gtfo. Out of everyone on the team the one I consistently hear how they want to stay is Knies. He's an amazing player and he wants to stay here. He's part of the future.
