Let me know your expectations for the Sharks this off-season
Draft Stenberg at 2, trade for Fox or Raddysh and see where next Season takes us. Vegas misses the Playoffs next Year.
does it make sense to trade the 2nd pick for nikita kucherov from tampa bay, or jason robertson from dallas? either one for one, or as part of a package?
Macklin deserves the Hart Trophy. 59 point differential between him and the next player is the second most in NHL history.
the Blues have 3 picks in the first round they are willing to package those to make a move
Hopefully they trade the pick to islanders for Schaefer 😅
I see the Sharks resigning Deharnais. He’s been solid on the blue line
Given where the Sharks are at, I'd be dangling that 2nd overall pick for something that the team needs now. It would have to be good, though, like a top 4 or preferably top 2 defenseman in their prime or whatever else they might need. Otherwise, they could just pick one of the projected elite defensemen in the draft. There are plenty of those. I don't know that Stenberg helps them and there are a couple of the D men who don't seem to be a reach at 2.
For me:
Overall improvement internally and externally through a couple additions with a bonus of a second overall pick 🙂
Draft hope one of the following:
Draft Stenberg at 2 and Piiparinen at 19/20 or trade down one or two slots (Vancouver/Chicago), add their pick and take Reid/Verhoeff and one of their top young defensemen and draft Piiparinen at 19/20.
Note: GMMG is BPA, so whoever he thinks is BPA I think they choose in the end. I would note that the last time a number two pick was moved was 1999 so odds are it will be Stenberg or McKenna. Thinking of either added to what forwards they have … OMG!
Forwards: 11 already signed with Graf and Ostapchuck resigned making it 13 and then the 14th spot is filled internally.
Defense: Orlov and Dickinson signed (2). GMMG said Muk (3) is coming back. I think Desharnais (4) comes back. Possible Cagnoni, Pohlkamp or Allan makes the roster and add two defensemen through trade/FA. Ferraro likely not returning but I would like him back.
Goalies: No change
Extensions: I hope Celebrini, Smith and Askarov all get extensions as they all are up for them.
Mangement: No change.
IF they improve the right side of the defense and there is development with the young players (Celebrini, Smith, Ostapchuk, Eklund, Misa, Graf, Chernyshov, Askarov, Dickinson and Mukhamadullin), a rebound for a couple veterans and the further acclimation of Sherwood I think they reach the playoffs.
Do not sleep on Pohlkamp. Dude is going to be D-Man version of Collin Graf.
Celebrini and Stenberg will be another McDavid and Draisaitl. Shore up that defence and they will be a dynasty
Celebrini: Set the franchise single season scoring record in his 2nd season; outscored the next two Sharks combined points; and led all Sharks skaters in ice time! Rookie goaltender should improve next season. Many players 23 or under played significant minutes for the team.
Draft Stenberg, trade for Kesselring and Schneider and resign Vinny. While not the best, if it made us middle of the pack we would win a lot more. So excited with all the flexibility we now have. No matter what I trust GMMG to make the call!
No one player drafted this year will push the bar!
This pick needs to fill a need for when we hit a cup contender window and that has to be a RD! Reid won’t help us for likely years but once he gets here he will revamp our D.
If Seattle doesn't figure out a way to pick McKenna at #7, prevailing wisdom on the Internet dictates Botteril is a terrible GM.
Draft Stenberg, trade 19th pick and other picks for a top 4 D RHD
Why is it that when people talk about Eklund and Smith's production this season they NEVER take into consideration the fact that they were injured? Smith was on pace to have a 70 point season! And it was only his second one!
If im sanjose im not trading the 2nd overall pick for matthews noooo
"it's hard to imagine some of the playoff teams having major steps backwards to get knocked out"
oilers or kings are missing the playoffs next year to make room for the sharks. Oilers especially if McDavid jumps ship.
