Was there goaltender Interference by Walker on the Hall overtime winning goal? Tough Call Review
Taylor Hall scored an overtime game-winning goal against the Philadelphia Flyers but just prior to him shooting the puck in the net hurricanes player. Sean Walker had his stick come down on the glove of Flyers goaltender Dan Vladar. Should this have been ruled goaltender interference?
ye that's goalie interference in my books
as much as i wish it were, and it's not a great optic seeing your goalies hand getting pinned by a stick, it's a good goal. Vladar wasn't complaining and coach didn't challenge for a reason.
I let this go all the time. If I were to call this goalie interference, it sets the standard that players can’t go after a loose puck because accidentally touching the goalie outside the crease would result in a penalty.
Yeah it’s not interference if it’s a loose puck battle outside the crease.
Yeah, it's bad luck for Vladar (and thus good luck for Walker and Hall, one could argue), but it's incidental contact. I'd say that goal befit the game and the two teams.
They can't challenge. Its auto reviewed. Also, the Philly player had Walkers stick pinned to the glove to the point where Walker dropped his stick right before the goal was scored.
Doesn't matter…I got my beer stick.
As a Canes fan, yes, it’s interference. Not a penalty, but we’d be furious if that’s how the game ended the other way.
"Should the Flyers have challenged this unchallengeable playoff overtime goal?"
