  1. Love your podcast guys and I understand where you're coming from but I don't think this episode will age well. Give this bright 36 year-old executive with Sundin standing over him, a chance.

    I like Futa as a hockey guy with a good heart but I could not stand the thought of Gillis running the Leafs. I don't want the NHL old boys network retreads running the Leafs.

  4. The rebuild will be forced on them. Leaf fans know this but the short-sighted greed of Rogers Corp is interfering with the correct hockey decision here. They would actually make more money in the long run if they made correct hockey decisions. This shitshow is fundamentally the fault of ownership.

    Sundin I get (à la Joe Sakic in Colorado), but Chayka & Tie Domi part of it is classic Maple Queefs of the last 55+ years (outside of a good 10 yr run from 93-02….they blew Matthews/Marner/Willie era)!😂

    Blaming Matthews/Marner/Nylander classic delusional Leafs fans too when it’s not their fault at all they’ve never once played with anyone close to a legit #1 D-man (or great blue line), great goalie, or great lines 3/4. Ownership/FO loves goobers blaming some of their best players ever! At this point they absolutely should trade them, but the TEAM built around the 3 best players was AWFUL.

  13. Sundin was a great captain and led by example. I think he has respect in the league and thats important. The problem is, the GM should have respect, and Chyka doesnt have that. Being a GM is much about who you know. If they dont like you, they wont answer the phone.

    Leafs need a guy who can beg for mercy and hope he gets a sweet deal for a real player. They dont have much to giveup. Only charity will help with this mess.

    How would sundin expect Rielly to wave his NTC when Sundin wouldnt do it? Thats Sundins one negative, he wouldnt help out Toronto when they wanted to trade him.

    Knowing this team, they will trade Knies and Cowan for utter shit and this team is done for a minimum of a decade if not 2.

You hit the nail on the head……Keith Pelley is the Leafs President and Sundin is there as the P.R. guy to distract from the Chayka hiring. It'll be interesting to know how many NHL teams had Chayka on the top of their list as their new General Manager? Looking back now, Shanahan, Dubas and Keefe look pretty good. Hell, Prime Minister Mark Carney and Premier Doug Ford would look pretty good too!🤣

  30. Why Chayka? Guess he's heavy into the analytics, his pay will be cheap compared to the quality candidates, and he has no problem kissing Pelly's azz. He won't demand full control over hockey decisions. Sundin will provide him some cover. I thought Pelley might hesitate on this, given the serious negative blowback from media and fans, but sounds like he's going to bulldoze ahead anyway.

  33. Only Toronto fans call the Leafs “the crown jewel of the hockey world”. Even guys who have been correctly critical of the selection process, continue to suggest this is a greatly coveted position, but the market is telling a different story. If this position is highly coveted, top level candidates come out of the woodwork to put their hands up to interview for the role. You don’t need a search firm (or search party lol) to find them hiding under the floorboards. Where are all those candidates??? The phone is not ringing. No one with the level of talent required for this wants to work in Toronto. It’s where great careers go to die and the entire league and industry knows it. This is a “fish rots from the head” problem and this fish has been spoiled for a long time. Sorry guys, until the organization replaces its boardroom windows with some mirrors, nothing will change in Toronto

  39. Note to Keith Pelly: You should fire the firm that helped you make this decision. Chayka seriously? The guy was suspended by the NHL for being a shady POS. The Mats Sundin hire I'm totally ok with. But why is he only the VP? Keith Pelly should not be president. I know more about hockey than he does. The only reason Chayka was even considered was because he's friends with Tie Domi. Is Domi seriously pulling the strings behind the scenes?? Good luck trading Max Domi now. All of this smells funny. Notice that this all became dysfunctional when Pelly came along?

  49. The bottom line here with the leafs is that the “fanbase” must stop going to games !! Just stop! Stop being stopped sheep and falling off the cliff with these morons at MLSE. From now on everything that gets worse is the fanbase and city’s fault.
