  1. They definitely have the parts to bounce back but there are a lot of question marks with the team.

Bob was one of the worst goalies during the regular season (although yes, the team was killed by injuries, he wasn’t very solid regardless). Does he bounce back even with better personnel in front of him?

Barkov’s injury would have been a career ender in years past but thanks to advances in medicine, he can still play. I’d argue he is the most important player on the team. Their worst stretch last year during the regular season coincided with him being out due to injury. A center like him being out is like losing your best defender and forward at the same time. It’s like removing Bergeron from the cup winning Boston teams.

Will he be the same player he was prior to the injury? It’s definitely possible but there’s no guarantee. The chance of reinjuring also increases drastically as well.

Marchand was not good this year and he’s not getting any younger. He’s also at an age where a performance drop off can be really abrupt. Bennett struggled in the Olympics and had people questioning if he should have been picked for Canada at all.

I think if they do return to the playoffs, it’s more likely as a wildcard team and not the juggernaut they once were.

  2. Maybe the most obvious bounce back candidate there’s ever been.

They’ll go into next season with one of the best top 9s in hockey, along with one of the strongest d cores in the league. The only question mark is in goal, and I’d expect Zito to bring in someone new this offseason, with or without bobrovsky.

  3. I think what works in Barkov's favor in being good to go for next season is his confirmed participation for Finland in this summer's IIHF World Championship. Getting into that level of competition after missing an entire season will help shake off the cobwebs before the next NHL season.

  4. I’m a Panthers fan and I want to keep Bob but only at a reasonable price. The team needs a reliable goalie and he proved unreliable this season. I don’t know who else they’d sign though.

  5. With a team captain, it is not just how good a player he is, but also his leadership. I think they really missed that part of Barkov more then the level of play.

  6. Coming into the season, I didn't know how Florida was going to get through the season. They were absolutely exhausted. When the injuries hit, I was not surprised. The upside of the down year that they had is that they get a full offseason.

  7. Love the jersey! I really want them to bring the leaping panther back as a third. Also, so sad the Checkers couldn’t make another run to the final. I was really hoping to see more of Sandis Vilmanis, who quietly had a bit of a breakout this year in the AHL and showed some good play when he was up in the NHL for a bit too.

  8. A lot of the questions around this team interweave, the goalie situation will likely be affected by the outcome of the Draft Lottery because I can see a trade happening if the pick isn't high enough. Once that's resolved the who stays and who goes situation probably becomes a little more clear. Next season from them could be more of the usual dominant stretches and occasional coasting but I also wouldn't be surprised if they were in the mix for the President's Trophy. If anyone is coming up from Charlotte to jump in next season Benning stood out as the one I'm most excited for. I expect big years from Barkov and Reinhart and hopefully Forsling finally has a season that brings him serious Norris consideration.

  9. Panthers fans should'nt feel too bad the team was very banged up and it just did'nt seem to stop. By the time next season starts everyone should be back and healthy and hey now you get a high draft pick out of the whole deal.

  10. Panthers fan here. We have faith in Bill Zito, Paul Maurice and Sasha will be just fine. We will be a threat next year, no doubt. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying watching the Playoffs while I have a cold one out of my 2nd Stanley Cup! GO CATS!!!

  11. … I would not put too much on Bob's safe percentage. As a back to back SC winner, teams I think were over motivated against my Panthers which might have screwed the his stats❤ ❤❤

  12. The season was on the verge of doomed due to how injured the team was before the season even started, can't wait to see the team bounce back next year with the increase in cap space!

  13. Cats are outplaying everyone – win a couple cups, take a year off, get a top draft pick, return. They are single handedly showing how to manipulate this broken league.

Even funnier is how TBL think they can get away with calls like Cats. Not happening dude, as you can see.

  14. I don't think the Panthers bounce back next year. I think the year after is a better guess. Tkachuk is an injury candidate every year going forward I feel and I don't think Bobrovsky is leaving this year. This could also age incredibly poorly lol

  15. Idk if the Panthers will comeback as a cup contender, but a healthy Panthers team would be an horrible news for teams who barely made the playoffs or barely missed in the East … especially in the Atlantic.

  16. Buffalo and Montreal should be back in the playoffs next year. Ottawa, Tampa and Boston are probably gonna push for it again. Toronto and Detroit are question marks but there will be five teams at least in the Atlantic fighting to get in. Panthers will be in the mix for the playoffs but will they make it? Bobrovsky's goaltending status with the Panthers will also be a question. He will be 38…

  17. So, teams you don't like, you grouse if they get OT points and teams you do like, you grouse if they don't get OT points. Kinda flip-floppy.
