Kevin Cheveldayoff and Scott Arniel did their year end press conferences, and like usual didn’t say much of substance. This was an offseason where the fan base was hoping to get answers, but were met with more questions.

Chevy is not the answer, he’s been here since the beginning and has 1 conference final appearance. The Jets are in an and spot because of him. They need to improve, they need to acquire high-end talent but that puts the younger players at risk of not playing on the main roster, and I don’t see Chevy fixing that problem. Toews has your 2nd line centre was never going to work but went with it anyways. Chevy always acquires one “high end FA” each offseason, and I bet this year’s FA will be Laine, who has been terrible since he left the Jets, which was also Chevy’s fault. I want to see a young players play, but I also want to see the team improve, Chevy really has put them in a bad spot.
Cheveldayoff just spouts platitudes. He always does. It's just all nonsense.

Well the season was a disaster… why wouldn't the end-of-the-season press conference be one too? Frankly, if Chevy has bold ideas we're not going to hear about them now. If anything, Chevy is methodical and there is no payoff to announce actions at this point. See what happens with the draft lottery. We will wait and find out. But – unlike some – I think there is ZERO chance lessons were not taken away from this season. The critical lesson of is there anything real in the vet pool? Less obvious… does the Moose coaching need fixing? Can you really run an NHL with "the Core" making the decisions? And….Do you rebuild in the way we know has to happen at some point?

Time to get some younger GM and Coaches for a younger team
If Elias Pettersson is cheap/free in asset return, I'd take him overpaid over finding another 35 year old. If guys won't just sign for you on July 1, do what you have to do.

I love how there is just no talk or even consideration to letting Chevy go. Not you, in general. Maybe, just maybe, it is time to consider someone else for that role 😂
I think WPG fans are starting to sound a lot like Toronto. Constant change in management and coaches .. Be careful what you ask for! Complaining about a team and management who are always a the top of the league . They created an atmosphere in Winnipeg where a lot of players enjoy playing. Let them do their job . Next year it will be better .
I'm new to following the Jets closely – watched almost all 82 games – because Toews is my all-time favorite player. What I saw. 1. Toews took a while to find his game but it didn't help that just about every line mate had career-low years, in particular couldn't finish. 2) Injuries played a huge part. 3) Arniel is too stubborn (about a lot of things). 4) Helly was nowhere near his past level.

Like listening to politicians, a lot of words but no answers or plan. They both are going to look at it over the next weeks and months…what about while it was happening. Vegas would have made moves by Christmas. Other teams in the central loaded up this year, even Edmonton found Walkman and Dickinson and they’re producing, and they were up against the cap. Helle was right to be pissed.
So reminiscent of his 2022 end of season press conference. He talked then about how they make the playoffs most years. He just doesn't seem to get that the goal (for the fans at least) is the Stanley Cup, not just making the playoffs. The Jets made the playoffs each year from 2023-2025 and have one series win to show for it (which they barely managed to win). This is not a Stanley Cup contender. You traded away your second round pick this year for Luke Schenn last year. This team badly needs young assets and a rebuild, and the only way it starts is by firing Chevy. He has very little to show for his 15 years as GM.
I get the feeling that the way this offseason will play out for the Jets will be determined by the results of the draft lottery on May 5th
Anyone else remember when Ehlers-Scheif-Vilardi was the best line in hockey?
It's a bit of a cop out to say it was personel. They were the presidents trophy winners last year and they really only lost Ehlers…..so is he saying that without Ehlers he was unable to get the same presidents trophy winners into a wild card spot? Arniel did not take strides to develop prospects, which is really odd considering the vets in the line up who were very clearly the biggest problem.

Definitely seems Chevy/Chipman are out of touch.
They dont understand a rebuild needs to happen if they dont give Hellebuyck,Jmo ect at least 2 top 6 players this offseason.
Hellebuyck will be first to go then Morrissey/Samberg and down from there if they dont take it seriously.

Honestly I'm fine with Chevy. I dont really want somebody like chiarelli to come in and gut the roster and future. I get that this is a blip… maybe Chevy and arniel dont see eye to eye and are butting heads not sure but ever since Marcel comeau retired the drafting has been very lackluster. Maybe a new coach is in order
