Turns out that there are more benefits to moving Garland than just moving his contract. I’m glad the Canucks are cleaning house. It’s the culture that will get players to stay or want to come to Van to play there.
Some people are amazing when they’re led but aren’t great leaders themselves and I think that’s part of the problem in Vancouver. We had Horvat, Tanev, Marky, later Zadorov, Schenn, and Cole and these guys could keep Miller and Petey in check.
Garland is MAGA and MAGA sucks so no, I am not surprised. Please no more MAGA or Maple MAGA players on the Canucks, ever
American players are the new questionable Russian players back in the day.
Wow, girls bathroom talk.
While some players leaving may have helped with Locker Room culture, I think the three guys that came from Minnesota (Rossi, Buium and Öhgren) have probably also helped, as they are all hard working, upstanding team players.
Doubt Garland was the issue. The culture has significantly improved due to the team becoming younger and cleaning house in general. Myers is just as much to blame as is Garland. The youngsters are energized and willing to do whatever it takes to shine.
For example, Sasson was living with Garland for approximately a year. IF Garland was the issue, and was the reason why the young guys weren’t eating at the table or the locker-room culture, then sasson wouldn’t be living with him “rent free”.
The culture just improved once the rebuild officially began. Veterans embraced that they aren’t going to win in the next little bit and decided only way to win is to include the youngsters. The trade deadline is what solidified the rebuild,a before the path was a hybrid retool.
Theres no doubt he pretty much quit on the canucks after his best buddy Hughes was traded.
Conor Garland gave the Canucks his heart and soul while he was here in Vancouver. I wish Conor nothing but the best as he moves forward in his career.
They need a strong captain a veteran not a young with no unproven leadership like quin was
The Canucks blew up right after Kane and Garland decided to take a photo with Scam Patel
Garland is a pos. So glad he was tossed
Losing tanev is what broke this team
Rutherford: "I'm not going to throw anyone under the bus, but since it's still pretty roomy under there after Allvin was rolled in there, I might as well get ruining reputations by suggesting players are terrible people without naming anyone."
Why do we always have to hate on ex players who gave their everything. Connor is ultra competitive the Europeans aren't.
Rutherford is toxic, tbh. wtf are we listening to a 75 year old dinosaur for?
Im just happy Hughes is off this team. I truly believe he was the cancer of this team
Reading between the lines, it sounds like it was a Maga war in the locker room. It's possible Miller, Garland, and Hughes hated being in Canada and let their teammates know it. The problem there is that they were also 3 of the top players on the team. So how do you just get rid of them?? This is merely conjecture, but if it's true, that's a HUGE problem for management to solve. It's unfixable.
That’s crazy. I thought he was one of those guys you love to play with and hate to play against. Legit wouldn’t have guessed
Sounds like boeser is the only loyal American to this team. You could say Demko but if he was healthy this whole time I bet he wouldn’t “want to stay” so badly. It’s just that no other teams would risk a contract.
hey vancouver fans, i am hawks fan. serious question, i am curious about jt miller and his rep. was he truly a locker room cancer? or was it the situation (overall) that backfired?
This is nuts if true. Most fans including me thought Garland was a great teammate. Some even suggested to make him captain. Hoping for more insider insight to confirm if this is true or not.
I got to say, Garland lost the motivation to play after Hughes left.
There’s no credibility to twitter comments , you could say garland was racist and everyone would believe it
After the olympics and the generation of current american players and how they carried themselves, I am not surprised. I know that Boeser (american) is 100 percent thankful and happy to be a Canuck. And I think that Demko (unfortunately, a powderpuff as far as his body) is grateful for the Canucks organization for being patient with his plight. I think these 2 guys are more humble than the others. There were too many cocky americans on the Canucks the last few years. Evidenced in the 4 nations and the olympics. And it's no mystery why and how things have changed in vancouver since. I hope that things follow the example of all the young players like Bieksa, Kess, Burrows, Edler, Hansen, Tanev, and others. And the vets like the twins, Loo, Salo, and others that led the team well. The team was inseparable and joking with/about anything and everything. The Canucks built a family culture. Our team needs to get back to that again. And go back to the U2 intro every game.
I'm wondering if this was a divide in the locker room between the soft guys and the competitive guys. It sounds to me like the soft guys won and the competitive guys were sent away. I guess we'll see next year if it all works out?!
I have little doubt it was all the MAGA guys that were the problem.
Canucks reddit could yammer on for years and years without realizing they're ran by compromised stooges that offer no decent ideas or insight, outside of destructive rumour-mongering. On the stooge front, there's nothing there but just excusing the latest obvious failure and upselling the next obvious failure. Same outfit upsold Juolevi. Same outfit praised Pettersson as a 'franchise center.' These deliberately misleading social media outlets are not to be trusted in a fundamental way. It is, by definition, toxic.
It's funny, I've seen far more Petey PP one-timers after QH was sent packing. It was a great trade, basically four first rounders for a guy who was never going to stay. Once Rossi was healthy he was impressive.
Hey I kind of beat up on you re: Alvin fired. My bad. You actually got one right
Garland should stay here
Lay off Garland, He was the gutsiest guy on this team
The culture went downhill once Rutherford resign Miller and traded away Horvat
Locker room culture sounds weird like 🌈 locker room.
