The Penguins were an embarrassment last night. Zero heart, standing still at times and sloppy giveaways. To see Crosby, Malin and so many other players reacting to the instigating like back in 2012 is pathetic. What happened to Sullys JUST PLAY YOUR GAME! Pens didn’t play their game and from what I seen it’ll be hard to imagine they will. Crosby needs to man up and ignore the little shit and act like the captain and lead by example AND JUST PLAY. Yeah it’s been 3 years no playoffs and I can’t remember the last series we won and nobody came out with a mentality reflective of that. Laidback mentality was putrid.
He called out Gerard . but not Tanger and tanger was bad. The passing or lack of receiving said pass was bad there was a play I think it was from Sid to rust it was too rust I know that and he completely missed it and if you would have just caught it and turned and shot at least it would have created an opportunity. That's just one example there was one that it went to Gino and then he tried he tried to soft pass it to the I can't remember who the dude was next to him cuz I got so pissed that he missed it and it was like a 5-ft pass and they missed it and it was a turnover. But he was right about Malkin. That fight behind the fucking net while the play was going down the other end almost fight. Flyers fans will say Sid was a whiner or whatever cuz that's how it always is but that one face off the dude just kept pushing on and pushing on and pushing on them can you push back the whole helmet thing I don't think there should have been a penalty for nobody pick your helmet up and go they even called it that way. Okay done ranting I had to like put the game in the background and play a game for half the third period they need to step it up I don't know what is going on they have enough leaders to prepare these kids
Girard was fine, Ryan Shea struggled. Worst game of the season for him. Nobody was good last night, 4th line was decent. Poor old Chinakov was assaulted right out of the game, his worst game as a Penguin. Flyers shut down any and every Penguin down
This is great. Honest and straightforward. Appreciate it as Philly commentators are leaning on hyperbole and 20-20 hindsight in their analysis. These flyers are for real but also still gelling.
Giving all the guys that time off at seasons end didnt help for game 1. Pittsburgh looked like a team that hadn't played in a couple weeks. Pittsburgh also wasn't ready for playoff hockey. Lets gets em in Game 2
Nah it’s already over. Overconfidence despite losing 3 straight to end the season, Letang has been done for the past 3 years, Crosby looked flustered for the first time ever and Mantha looked like 2024 Mantha. Everyone betting on the Pens made zero sense.
They never adjusted. Kept trying to carry it in. When they needed to dump and chase. They’ll prob lose in 5 now. By the looks of it we struggle with the trap. Reminds me of the Boston series years ago. We have always struggled with the trap. Tocchet knows this.
This flyers team is not the same. They are red hot. They are one of the best teams after the Olympic break. Which proves to benefit them exponentially. It was funny seeing all these pens fans that were talking so much trash on the flyers and had no idea what they were in for. It only took 1 game for them to make a full 180 and say how bad their penguins team are. Loll
The penguins top players are getting older. Don’t think they can handle the fast pace and hard hits of the playoffs. Think as playoffs continue, you will see this start to show up.
Lackadaisical, unspirited. Easily thrown off their game. Way too much time off coming down the stretch. No adjustments made. Very sullivan-esque toward the end of his tenure.
Rackell needs to go back to the line one wing Novak needs to be in the center of Chinakov and Malkin again. You need to go back to what was your bread and butter for way more than half your year. Instead of something that clicked kinda sort of during all the injuries during the last month and a half of the season.
Pittsburgh has been good at dealing with adversity all season and they will do the same this time. Just learn your lesson and move on. Expect a completely different Pittsburgh next game. Then I expect a slaughter of Philadelphia in game 2.
I am new to ice hockey (2 months watching and learning) but even I can see the recipe to beat this team. A team has to clog the middle while defending their net and patiently wait for a "counter attack". I guess in a game you will have at least 10 of those with about 6 being a clear chance for score? Unfortunately it seems this penguins team is to attack focused and very undisciplined on defense. After they shoot when rebounds happenes players are just maintaining their positions, they are too slow to react and go back to defend.
I think they will have to focus more on defense somehow(I am new to the sports so I don't know really how) and be aware that they will have to win low scoring games. Otherwise teams will apply my recipe above and most likely beat them most of the time

If I see Girard do one more stupid spin move, it'll be too soon. His last turnover was partly because the Flyer player anticipated the spin.
