The Is what it is comment pisses me off.the answer should have been we did not do enough and we were not good enough. This shows me he is just there for a paycheck and not win championships
was it kane or was it cat that got kane to his 57 points? He only produces when with cat. Cat can produce with anyone as we saw in his first season when with larkin and raymond almost all year.
with kane out of the line up or injured very early in the game since the start of the 2023-2024 season, detroit in 59 games is about .650 point percentage. With kane and a full line up with no guys from the top 6 missing they are now about .520…. What is the common denominator? Kane. When kane is in, guys in the bottom 6 don't try to produce as much because they think he will get it done because that is what he is hyped up to do. These guys play better with kane out. I know some people will talk about larkin but the team prior to larkins injury with larkin in the line up was 35-21-7, with several wins with kane out. With larkin out, they were 3-4-1 this season. Larkin with injury they were 3-6-2 but he still managed 9 points over 4 games towards the end on a bad knee. 5v5 or powerplay, points are points and offense is offense.
His language makes it sound like he's going to sign in Detroit next year. You look at the same post-season interview from last year and it was MUCH more vague.
If they bring Kane back I'm switching teams for good after 34 years of being a Red Wings fan. Need to get rid of all the soft players and build a team with physical wingers that actually hit and forecheck properly.
the reason this team keeps wiping out coaches/rosters & failing is because they're trying to build on a weak foundation. Larkin is not a leader or captain material at all. Trade that clown and start a proper rebuild
March is an easy answer. You can't have a Caesar on your arena in March. Put the Red Wings logo on a tarp. Put the tarp over the Caesar in March. See if it changes.
Seen so much Red Wings hate vs Kaner which makes no sense to me especially when he was only a 3 million cap hit.
Delusional haters are just mad at his one bad play (which a better team kills the penalty) and the fact he’s not good defensively. He not only played at 70 point pace over 82 game season, but his last 20 games he was nearly 100 point pace (98.4)!
What more did people want/expect from a 37 year old at 3 million?!? By any objective measure he was one of the best value contracts in the NHL in 2025.
It’s not his fault Red Wings never called up Cossa when Gibson started leaking oil 2 months ago or trade for Quinn Hughes! If Cossa had 10 starts and they had Quinn Hughes they’re a 100 point team in the playoffs!
Look at Chicago, ditched Kane and got Bedard, picking high in the draft. Wings get him as a novelty so he can hit milestones and now they've been picking outside the top 10. What a dumb rebuild, 10 years of no playoffs and not a single elite forward/center drafted in the top 3.
I hope he's here next year. I think Cat being here is a huge decision on that. He's won Cups, i think he just wants to be on a good team, and play with people he enjoys. Hope we bring some other people in to make a run next year
Kane had 7g/17a/24pts the last 20 games – and unlike some, didn't pile these up after the team was eliminated, but had been doing it since Larkin went down in early March and the team needed it.
Kane was 2nd for the year in 5v5 points per 60 and on-ice goals for per 60.
Kane led the team in 5v5 goals the last 36 games.
Kane's 5v5 line with Copp and DeBrincat was 6th in the NHL in goals, 7th in plus minus, among all lines.
Kane was a plus at 5v5 for his 3rd year in a row as a Wing – him and DeBrincat are the only 2 players to do this on the team. Seider is 2/3, Raymond is 0/3, Larkin is 1/3, Ed is 2/3.
Kane's on-ice analytics 5v5 were among the best on the team, 2nd best among forwards in most things. From Dec 1 on, he led forwards in basically all 5v5 analytics. He had his best 5v5 analytics since the Blackhawks dynasty. This despite the team being awful 5v5, no top line, not a true 2C, no puck-moving d-men, and Kane getting way lower o-zone starts than he did in Chicago.
Kane's all situations analytics were his best since the Blackhawks dynasty, and in some important analytics since the EARLY Blackhawks dynasty – ie there was only 1 season in his career in which he had better of certain analytics (2010).
He played at around a 30/100 pace for the last QUARTER of the season. Not coincidentally the only time in the entire season he was
-not dealing with injury or injury interruptions -not dealing with linemate shenanigans at 5v5 or absurd demotions on the power play -not dealing with milestone/Olympic distractions
When the power play ran true, it ran thru Kane – this was especially noticeable in the last month after Larkin came back. The team was desperate, no more time to mess around, they started passing Kane the puck more and letting him go to work and choose what to do. The team started scoring way more on the power play instantly. Such as the one vs Philly where they had 2 goals on a single power play, with Kane getting 2 primaries.
#88 is a big piece. Did way more than his part since he has been here. The lineup will be much different if he is not back, and you need to add here rather than replace 88.
Redwings would be completely fools if they don’t resign Kane. He had numerous games where his contributions were huge. He produced and is also good for young players.
You gotta love and admire this guy – at 1:38 – notice how quickly, not a moment's hesitation, he says "Yeah" to the question about playing next season. It's so revealing – he loves hockey and does so much for the team. My guess is that Kaner sees the makings for a much greater team in the coming year, or years. Very positive interview – we needed it. Thank you.
Kane needs to be released. He is well past his prime, though he put up ok numbers for the year. Its time for him to step to the side and let a younger player who can preform take his spot.

We want Patty Kane back! Pay that man his money!
Let’s go wings!
Yzerman will add to the roster this offseason
Probably looking too much into it, but maybe he chose to rock the Tigers hat to show that he plans on coming back? Lol
A lot of these comments are nuts
Kane, despite his age, put up almost 60 points and on a 70 points a season pace
Him and Cat were carrying this team’s attack after Larkin couldn’t score 5 on 5 or out injured
He did what he could
Ideally he is your 3rd line guy but he is the 4th best forward on this team production wise
You aren’t replacing that 57 points in 60 some games production easily
The Is what it is comment pisses me off.the answer should have been we did not do enough and we were not good enough. This shows me he is just there for a paycheck
and not win championships
I thought at 7:59 "I'll tell ya right now.." that he was going to bluntly list the teams in the playoffs that aren't as good 😂.
lol Helene asks the most pointless questions. What’s Kane gonna say, “get me the fuck outta here?”…
Looking forward to see him in red next year! Go Wings!
Get out of the team Bru, retire. You didnt do anything for detroit.
was it kane or was it cat that got kane to his 57 points? He only produces when with cat. Cat can produce with anyone as we saw in his first season when with larkin and raymond almost all year.
Kane, Chicago would appreciate you going to help Bedard for 1 year and retire your number there. You know that's the ultimate respect move, bro.
Sincerely, a Detroit native and wings fan.
Let's not be selfish here. Chicago deserves his last year.

I think he’s gonna play until at least he’s 40

Sick gear wear bud, the D is home! 💯

Please Patty. We need you.
I think what I just heard Patrick say is the only way he's coming back to Detroit is if they prove to him that they're making the playoffs next year.

Please stay Kane! We love you and you were one of the brightest parts of this season
Detroit needs a checking line. They don’t have the physical play that is needed to win battles and put bodies on the other team’s top guys.

How can anyone hate him for being the greatest American hockey player

Gotta keep Showtime
I hope Kane's back next season and ends his career as a Red Wing. He's a winning, veteran presence and is still productive enough to add value.
I hope he's here next year. I think Cat being here is a huge decision on that. He's won Cups, i think he just wants to be on a good team, and play with people he enjoys. Hope we bring some other people in to make a run next year

Please stay, Kaner. You are a calm voice of reason. BTW, you should be a coach someday. Not soon, but eventually.

Not Showtime’s fault.
its gotta be surreal for Debrincat to be friends with PK. He probably looked up to him
Honestly we need just a better bottom 6 our top 6 plays hurt and still produces we need a better bottom 6
I thought hed be on his way out but I see hes ready to watch the Tigers.
Was good in his prime. Needs to go.
Be careful he doesn’t go to. L A. With breadman
I'd like to see him in a Wild uniform.
It's time to give Berregren his ICE TIME .

Reppin that hat like a rockstar.🎉
Bring back Ken Holland.
Yzerman has failed.

"Patty" blew it when he got that cheap penalty in the last game and the other team scored. When I saw it, my first thought was someone paid him off
Kaner! Thanks for all great times. A real joy to watch you play with Cat
