Boys: I think the goal is to cur some fat out of the middle six and shove those forwards down to the 4th line. 25-30 pts on your whole 4th line is not enough.
I'm sure you guys will get into this more, but something was on my mind about this tagline of "rewarding the players." This cannot happen again. The team as constructed (by LL mostly), showed you who they were. Capable or being pretty good, and then when the going gets tough just buckling under the pressure. And I don't understand the need to push for playoffs to fill seats, because at the end of the day people just want to see Schaef and exciting hockey right now. Schaef is the marquee. Why are people so high on the SJS even though they bottomed out of the playoffs? Because Macklin Cellebrini is awesome and people are excited to watch a young team. They have to make some tough decisions and leave spots open for young guys.
I can’t understand how Mitch lists Heineman as a disappointment. He was basically a throw in for the Dobson deal, and produced over 20 goals. He is not afraid of physicality and is in his early 20s. If anything, he is a pleasant surprise.
One thing we will not know until the end of next season. How much is Roy responsible for these bad offensive numbers? If DeBoer gets the same results it's clearly the roster is the problem. Anyone predict Pageau and DeAngelo having the same number of points? The 4th line was a trio of forechecking bangers. Took Roy 75% of the season to figure out to keep the three together. They are momentum changers not goal producers. If you rely on your 4th line to produce your other three lines suck.
Barzal admitted what I suspected, he was never fully healthy this year and it can take two years to fully recover from that injury. He is the only player they have on our system team that is that dynamic except for Schaefer I can see moving him but who is going to fulfill that role?
Schaefer, Ritchie, and Eklund alone is a lot to be excited about next year. Add in the Deboor effect and any FA/trades that may happen. Guys are going to be more willing to play here. Didn't even mention Eiserman and Aitch not too far behind.
Lee is tough because he's a great Islander but Schenn makes him a redundancy. Would be okay if Cizikas, MacLean, Gatcomb, palat, duclair never play again.

Again, it’s all well and good that Mitch is so fluent in French but if I can’t understand what he’s saying, what is the point?
