  1. I've been to one Sabres playoff game in my life. 2006 playoffs, game 3 against the Ottawa Senators. Will never forget that day. Me and my brothers visited my mother in the hospital while she was recovering from colon cancer. IDK how much we spent on those tickets, but we were roughly 10 rows from the ice, bench side corner where the Sabres shoot twice. Not my preference, as I prefer the nosebleeds so I can see all of the ice, but, still, i was there! But the image of the OT goal, the moment where Pyatt lofts the pass in the air to, JP Dumont catches the puck, sets it on the ice, and shoots it past Emery to score and put the Sabres up 3-0 in the series. It's such a cliche to say, but the eruption of the crowd was damn near explosion levels. My mom beating cancer (now twice!) and the Sabres winning that game in ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooovertime (miss you RJ), good lord, these are the moments that made these past 15 years so tough to bear. I'm just happy to be here! I still can't fathom how (besides for Carrick, Stanley, Pearsson and way past his prime Luke Schenn) this is the team Kevyn (where's the palm trees?) Adams built, but i suppose a proverbial switch was flipped. I'm not questioning it anymore. Now…. Boston. ugh… for all intents and purposes, our big brother who bullies us in both hockey and football. The team who initiated this 15 years of purgatory when Lucic ran over Miller and no one lifted a finger (yikes… sound familiar… hope you guys in Toronto dont have as long of a time in hockey purgatory as we did…) Saturday is gonna be a big day, win or lose, obviously hope for the win lol, but just happy to be here! Hockey on my laptop, wrestlemania on tv, some beer in hand. It feels refreshing to say this again in public, but proud to be a Sabres fan!!!
Side note to everyone calling Sabres fans fair weather fans: Just imagine your team is the laughing stock for 15 years. I sincerely wish you dont have to experience it. Seriously. Giving an organization your hard earned money that had no reason to have it, is mind boggling to me. A re-build should last at most, a few years. NOT a decade and a half. EVER. I used to wear my Sabres jersey everywhere, wearing it with pride, even though I constantly heard, "but how many rings you got?". Such a pathetic question. Ask any Buffalo fan, of the Sabres and Bills. We just want one. Just one. I just want one Stanley Cup, one Super Bowl, and not for me and my pride of the team. I want it for my father. Before, well… you know. He's 70, and good God, please just let him see one. Sorry for the long comment. Suppose this comment was years in the making (some would say 15 lol) but I'm happy to have written it. Thank you guys for another great season of hockey coverage! May your Leafs figure out…. um, the long list of things that are wrong, and LETS GO BUFFALO!!!!

  2. Rumor has it that the new Gm called them soft and after that they all had beers together then fukd the league up. Go Sabres!

  3. Leno scored that goal then buffalo overpaird him tremendously thr next year just to have him score 1 goal in like 75 games it was a huge mistake

  4. I think Jesse is underestimating how teams like the Lightning and the Panthers don’t care about the last quarter of the season. Just get to the dance and all the bets are off. It’s a regular-season award so Ruff SHOULD win it. But Cooper by all accounts is hockey’s best.

  5. I wonder if the turnaround for Sabres is simply the new GM talking to the team as a group and simply stating…….i'll be evaluating everyone and no one will be moved until after the season..
This would immediately cool down the pressure from everywhere else and leaving them to really focus for the 1st time in a very long time.

  6. Who knew that having toxic management had a limiting effect on the performances of their employees ? The second they fired that GM, the Sabres started playing good Hockey.

I’d pay good money for a documentary on whatever world war was going on internally.

That being said, they aren’t completely out of the woods yet, still the same owners.

  7. Ffs, premature adulation really worked wonders for the Bills. How bout winning a round once in twenty years before we talk about us as juggernauts?

  8. Um the Sabres won the Peterka trade. Doan has 25 goals and isn't a liability in his own end. Kesslring has been playing unjuries for much of the season.

  9. I think one reason they started winning was what Dahlin said when Kekäläinen came in as GM. That Kekäläinen is said to have said that everyone can be traded away that no one is safe. I think this is a big reason why it turned out for Buffalo and that the coach and the players had a discussion that now we give it our all and see how far it goes. We are playing for our future right now. But as you say, it would be interesting to know what was going on within the team when Dahlin said that Kekäläinen came in and had a long speech to the team when he came in as GM.

  10. I thought you were comparing Buffalo to the Kings for a second with that title which is NOT flattering for Buffalo. 😂

    Kings gonna get 🧹

  11. Yes…Ill admitt Addams built the most of this roster prior to this year's trad deadline.. He added guys Doan & Norris..& re-signd Zucker..
    Extended Samuelson..Find
-ing goalies Lyon & Ellis..But to listen to his pressers..He is a total buzzkill..on Y Sabres can mak significant trads or add quality FAs..He blamed FLA (the 2 teams there..in TBAY & Panthers..& the sunshine🌞/palm trees 🌴 golf courses⛳..& no state income tax)..He always sounded so dfeated..No confidence at all.. But dude, U still hav to try.. As wth only 2 NHL teams in FLA..obvious
+ly not evrybody can go play for them..U hav to try.. New GM Jarmo..didnt sit on his hands at trad dedline this yr..Added to this roster..som bigger thought playrs wth som playoff experience in Schenn Carrick & Pearson..
I doubt if Adams wouldv done anything at the trad dedline (he was always too attached to his prospects.. yes..many whom are good.. but not all of them would ever be on the Sabres at once..not enough roster spots..So U hav to use some of those playrs to get som dcent veteran playrs..& he couldnt bring himself to part wth any of them..till recently.. Wth Cozens to OTT for Norris..Paterka to UT for Doan & Kesselring..& gettng McCleod to EDM for Savoie
..To get dcent playrs..U hav to giv up som of yor own..& it was like pullng hen's teeth to do it..& somhow not noticing that ex HC Granato had lost the team back in DEC of that yr..& did nothng to change the team..But his buzzkill attitude was it for me..Out the door wth him/ Addams..Let Jarmo tak over.. Any guy who has "the stones" to go after..& sign one of the biggsts FAs in the late great Gaudreau dservs a crack at the job

  12. So odd that i was just thinking this same sentiment this morning on my drive to work. Everyday americans have gotten much to comfortable just thinking "it doesnt effect me" when in fact the opposite is true. This country is becoming the exact thing we fought against. Taxation without representation. Our money is stolen from us and given to terrorists, not to fix our roads or change the educational system (which is atrocious, highschool age kids reading at a 5th grade level ect.) But to fund wars that have nothing to do with helping every day americans. Only to enrich billionaires.

  13. If Cooper wins the Adams then the award is a joke. He’s been a crybaby all year. They weren’t the most injured team. Buffalo had more injuries. They lost the division to a team who hasn’t been good in over a decade. It’s Ruffs award by a mile.

  14. As a Rangers fan, please win Sabres, we can’t be another team’s last playoff series win (Kings, Devils, Lightning)

    ETA: Senators

  15. Man games lost. What's important quality of players lost to injury. Sabres had not lost that many important players too often.

  16. Add the fact that the Sabres 10 game winning streak in December that turned things around began at the halfway point of a 6 game road trip.

  17. What's crazy to think a new team would be in the playoffs after a team uses one of their superstars in another team is decimated by injuries it's hard to imagine new teams in the playoffs

  18. Messaging from the top is everything.

Kevyn Adams drew his line at, "We just want guys who want to be here."

Jarmo drew his line at, "you have the talent to win, you just don't work hard enough. Start working or we'll find someone else who will."

  19. Sorry not sorry there is absolutely zero reason to pick Cooper over Ruff for that award. It’s not even a debate.

  20. Re COTY I am open to different interpretations. But why the universal media blitz campaign for Cooper this year? All in unison. It's so bizarre, the Group-think.
