  1. Today's athletes are a microcosm of society as a whole. when the inmates run the asylum, when there are no consequences for your actions and when there is no desire or heart, this is what happens. I am a Rangers fan and have been dealing with similar feelings about the Rangers squads (w/ some exceptions) for decades (Dolan). I respect Bowness and it's the difference between old-school and today. I'll go w/ old school every time.

  2. Face the facts that most pro athletes are collecting a paycheck and that’s it. Even the apathetic fans support this mentality; they even have a name for it, quiet quitting. Pro athletes aren’t worth their contracts. The fans end up losing because of higher prices.

  3. The team culture is terrible. All the way through, top to bottom, mediocrity is accepted. The fans need to demand more than a team barely making the playoffs. Half the teams make the playoffs. It isn't a goal that deserves a parade. The fans need to show that they hate losing. A little bit of booing during games wouldn't hurt. Even a drop in season ticket purchases. The franchise has a bad reputation in the hockey world. It has trouble keeping and attracting top free agents. On the other hand, if you live in Columbus and are indifferent to winning, if beer and brats and cheering for the occasional goal score is good enough, then there's no reason to complain.

  4. The Tortorella-ization of sports media creeps into unexpected places sometimes. I miss Dean Smith more every time I hear a coach in any sport fail to use even a modicum of self-control. No matter who it is.

  5. Its almost like the league is filled with millionaires who only care about their paycheck, and not a chance to etch your name on the cup. See also the entire maple leafs squad. lol.

  6. I've been a Stars fan since the 90s. Bones stabilized the team and got us to the Stanley Cup final with a roster that shouldn't have gotten us there during the Covid years when no one knew wtf was going on. He loves hockey, he loves the players, he's a genuinely good human being. The only knock anyone can make against this man is maybe that his system is outdated and it grinds the players down too much so they've got nothing left after 82 games. He will absolutely change the culture and build a better locker room if that's what ownership wants.

  7. When hockey players start talking about golf in mid-March, you know you're going to miss the playoffs.

  8. Never understood Americans liking basketball more than hockey, its like choosing to visit aunt Ethel & see her knit socks than going to Vegas to see a live show.

  9. Hockey used to be great but unfortunately that was last century. They turned it into soccer on ice. The No Hitting League with very limited fights, rivalries and soft play.

  10. As a Sabres fan I remember him from coaching Boston. He's a great guy and a damn good coach. I hope he's back with the Blue Jackets

  11. Americans are so bizarre, we give you the gift of the greatest team sport ever invented, and it gets no love. Would rather watch BOYS play football. Which is a 3 hour Chevy commercial with literally only 13 minutes of actually playing… taking turns…fucking boring. The whole sport is literally a dozen or so minutes of actual guys playing the game. The rest of it is selling pharma drugs and announcers jabbering about nonsense

  12. Sounds like he wants to turn that damn cannon on the players. A couple of years back, Gerard Gallant insinuated the Rangers were a bunch of quitters after they got eliminated by the Devils in a 1st round playoff match up…he was gone shortly thereafter.

  13. I have the volume at 150% and still can hardly hear anything. Can't you have proper audio volume levels on this Disney "show"?

  14. Take it from a Dallas Stars fans who had to endure the Rick Bowness era…he ain't the answer. This is what he does. 1) Take no responsibility whatsoever for his alleged "leadership". 2) Throws his players under the bus 3). Claims he has the answers but just needs time . He's also a neanderthal when it comes to hockey strategy, strangling any fun out of the game, making it hard for players to play and boring for fans to watch. Ranting about how everyone around you is a failure and if the players just "cared more" they'd be better is the sign of a failed coach, not a leader.

  15. The NHL is now full of gutless, overpaid primadonnas who think it's a non-contact league since the elimination of the enforcer role. Thanks Bettman.

  16. 25 years of losing in Columbus, and the only coach that got them their only playoff series win was run off by the players because he was a bit of a hardass. The narrative fits, the culture sucks.

  17. Hockey is the greatest, most all around sport there is. Part of the reason I kinda skip past RE show, is the lack of hockey coverage. Why do you ignore the battle for the greatest trophy in all of sports?

  18. I need to start using, "What else ya wanna know?" after every point I make in conversations going forward.

  19. In the 1970s, coaches in all sports gave speeches like this regularly. Now its considered "a rant."

  20. What would've been awesome is if he asked the reporters if they can skate and handle a puck because they would put more effort than the team

  21. Hey ! As a long suffering Sabres fan..I know exactly where Coach Bowness is comng from..Dealng wth 14 yrs of no playoffs..Alot of fans didnt renew their season tickts..I know now they wish they hadnt..Bcaus the playrs finally woke up from their hibernation..& actually decided to play som real NHL hocky..But what a great coach rant..Im also wondering if Terry Pegula somhow possessd him.. Bcaus he/coach had abso- lutely had no filter..Threw whole team undr the bus 🚌 But as a fan..Thats all U want from yor team..Show that U care..Put out an honest effort evry nite..evn in a meaningless game..Us fans still hav to pay the same prices..whether they're in the playoff hunt or not..& those tickts ain't cheap..Put in the effort..& as Proximo from "Gladiator" said, "& they will love U for it"/ the effort U put out each & evry gam..If not, go driv the Zamboni or work the driv-thru at Tim Hortons ..Bcaus U/ as a player no longer dserv to be in the NHL..To play in that league..yr in & yr out..is a privilege..not a right..Bcaus mayb yor dad or uncle playd in the league back in the day
..Go Sabes Baby ! & kick som ChowdaHead Bruin butt this wkend & in the playoff series ! 🏒🚨🥳

  22. Back in the 90's while I was working out at the gym at SMU (Halifax, Nova Scotia) Rick Bowness accidently took my workout towel lol
