Philadelphia Flyers fans react after team clinches spot in playoffs for first time in 5 seasons



The Flyers beat the Carolina Hurricanes, 3-2, in a shootout Monday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena to clinch their first playoff berth since the 2019-20 season.

  1. Haven't really followed hockey that closely for decades, but I was back in the early to mid seventies with thousands of crazy fans when the Flyers were winning Stanley Cups. It was just like this, only more because the Flyers were the only winning franchise in Philly at the time. I suspect that the vast majority of the current Flyers fans weren't even born yet the last time a Flyers team was relevant in the NHL. Yes, they've made the playoffs before, but it's been decades since the team has been a real contender for the cup. This team has played like a real contender for the last several games. Let's see how they do going forward. Let's hope they haven't taken the Phillies approach to playoffs.
