Do people not realize that you can love your family and be grateful for them, but also realize that some of the things that they say and do are not good. I love my family, but I've been hurt by said family for the way that they treated me growing up because I was weird and had interest that was not the norm in black families at the time(watching anime/reading Manga, listening to hard rock/punk/emo/nu metal music, wearing goth like clothing and black only). It hurt a lot being told that I wasn't black enough by family, but I still love them. He is not saying that his parents were monsters, he saying that his parent, even though they raised him well, did have some problems too with raising their adopted son from a different race.

But sometimes the crap they say makes me stop in my tracks. If they others say it’s “their generation“ or such, that tells u they were brought up like that. I don’t alway point it out. Depends on the ppl or situation. But I have called out ppl close to me. Sometimes they r just shocked. Like literally didn’t c what they said was hurtful and racist.
