  1. I think management is reacting to this idiot fan base that is already panicking about 3-4 years of rebuilding and wants it to be over yesterday. It's the same thing that happening under Jim Benning. Trevor wanted a rebuild and I guarantee there were discussions with Benning, Linden and the owner about the fan base's tolerance for a rebuild. I never blamed management completely. You know why the Bolts and Panthers are Cup champions? Because their fan base doesn't care. They'll find another sport to watch and come back when things are better and because of where they're located, the NHL will make sure they stay in business. If a Canadian team tried to do a proper rebuild, especially Vancouver, fans would mutiny, as they are right now. How do you get elite players who can win championships if you're constantly picking 15th overall? What the Canucks need is an owner willing to take the hard pill for the next 3-4 years, ignore the fans, and let the President and GM do the job that's necessary to draft elite players.

  2. This age gap garbage comes from the Aquilini family. Look at their other businesses; always cutting corners that weaken their product

  3. If you're going to trade picks, take you're second first round pick and add some second rounders to try and move to the top five or six.

  4. Drance has used the word capricious before, Rick… :p

He raised a good point in that Allvin may need to be retained for the draft, but his role may need to change. It does seem like the guy can find hidden talent – some of the lower picks the Canucks have made are turning out to be solid NHL players. However, Allvin's trade records are definitely not good. Signing decisions also leave much to be desired… The question is, if the Canucks want to roll Allvin's role back to be something like a scouting director, would he accept such a reduced role?

  5. If Vancouver trades a draft pick & drafts another Swede that disappears in the playoffs, I'm burning all my Canucks gear

  6. I can’t believe we reached the point where I agree with pretty much everything Drance says and actually look forward to his weekly hits smh

  7. Drance consistently winning the award for saying the least with the most goddamn words.

I feel like my wife and kids must feel everytime they say I'm "lecturing again."

  8. The only way i want this club to trade any draft picks is if they trade down and get more picks. Thats it.

  9. All the endless discussion about Canucks and their problems is never going to get better until they solve their two major problems —- really bad decisions by Rutherford and Allvin in their so-called "Rebuild" which have now made Canucks the Worst Team in the NHL, and EP 40, the most disappointing player in Canucks history. First terrible decision was the Petey contract, which will go down as one of the worst and most expensive mistakes in NHL history. They have yet to explain their reasoning, or why Petey has turned out to be a total bust, and is never going to get any better. Secondly they have traded away many of their best players, without getting equal returns. Draft picks will take years to develop. Why would any rational person give Rutherford and Allvin the ultimate power to make decisions in the future? They both need to be fired NOW. Canucks need a whole new mindset to start off next season.

  10. This team only has four Canadians on the team. Let that sink in why we are such a bad team. Management failure.

  11. FFS! Someone please enlighten me, when has the retool option worked out particularly well over the past. Even if the retreads manage to get the Canucks to squeeze into the playoffs, then drafting in middle of the pack. Suck it up and rebuild as Linden suggested.

  12. There's always teams that are attracted to 'borderline-bust' players that carry a high-round pick tag. The biggest one was Erik Gudbranson who carried a 3rd overall pick tag but didn't really pan out too well, and teams will end up paying a higher price just for that 3rd overall pick tag…

  13. I keep hearing that Allvin has a special eye for talent. Really? Examples please. So far, his top picks are question marks, and his other signings are marginal players. The team has amateur and pro scouting staffs, so anyone can sit in the room with them and evaluate their lists for drafting and trades for current pros and undrafted players. The only reason that Allvin will be retained is because Rutherford is his boss who brought him here. Let’s start with Rutherford retiring a year early, and work down from there. Allvin and Foote deserve to be gone. They have Dale Tallon and Ryan Johnson and Manny Malhotra already in the organization, plus the current assistant GMs. Draft and develop players, make prudent trades, and this team will be back to the playoffs in 4 or 5 years. Plus, freeze ticket prices, because this is a ridiculous NHL product for the money.

  14. lol… Seriously?? No GM is going to give up young legitimate NHL ready talent for a 2nd round pick… The only scenario that happens is if a GM finds himself in a roster-pinch – and even then – there will be other teams/GM's looking to benefit off of those situations… In the real world it sounds like Vancouver is willing to take on "reclamation projects" and "new starts" for 2nd and 3rd round picks – because that's what they're going to get for those types of assets..

What Vancouver SHOULD DO is trade that top pick for multiple top 60 draft picks… Because the Nucks aren't in good shape right now – especially after the Hughes fiasco – so I would rebuild with that roster… Look, there is NO ONE in this draft that can save Vancouver from the inevitable – and even if the Nucks drafted McKenna (for example) – what good does that do?? if the Nucks started rebuilding this summer McKenna will be 5-6 years into his career before the Nucks are back in the playoff conversation..

Oh and I know – Vancouver's NOT going to rebuild – they will just continue to be a bubble team for the next decade and a tease to their fans, lol…. I'm just saying objectively as an impartial NON-FAN that the Nucks should rebuild – tear it down, trade the top 5 pick for multiple top 60 picks – get a few more picks in the first round and a couple in the second though a series of trades, trade Pettersson for more picks and start there…. That's how I would approach the Canucks situation..

  15. If anyone thinks Allvin is going anywhere is crazy. That’s Rutherfords guy. I would say new coach is more likely.

  16. The Vancouver fan base is the only fan base that begs for a rebuild, and when it happens and we suck, they cry about how much we suck and beg for everyone to be fired….What did you expect?

  17. Who is Drance trying to impress? His mom? Dhali is right. Drance is a typical 'kiss up, kick down' elitist wannabe who is on a permanent audition to try and get work with an NHL team again. Good luck, loser.

  18. Draft picks are need. This year has been the worst season in 30+ years and there has been some dozy. You can blame the young players being they are part of very dysfunctional year.

  19. Aquilini, PLEASE SELL THE TEAM. Always chasing the last playoff spot….the man is garbage. NEVER having a long term plan…..

  20. Drance is a bullshxter…..DRAFT & DEVELOP…..instead of Aquilini always looking for the short cuts

  21. “Capricious is an adjective describing someone or something that is impulsive, unpredictable, and prone to sudden, illogical changes in mood or behavior. It implies a lack of consistency or rationale, often used to describe fickle people or erratic weather.”

  22. No way no trades, pick the kids and develop your future. We can not go wrong with 10 piocks. You can add a guy or two off of waivers. Go slow don't do dumb moves. We will have Riely Petterson in Abby next year. He can fill in if we get injuries here. Cootes should make a wing on third line. Lakkerimaki will fit on the wing with Rossi and Boeser. We have Klimovich Berard and Aman. We have Kudryavstev an Soyer Myio and Thopmson in abby. Jim should go,.Youth is OK. They will do way better next year. Keep Foote here he deserves to stay due to what he went trough this year.

  23. Bro drance been talking about us doing a proper rebuild for like 6 years and now he's like welllll you know… maybe its not so bad they do the reclamation projects now… in this climate… blah blah blah fkin so much backpeddling. insane.

  24. Trading 2nds and 3rds is exactly what led the silly team into this spot in the first place.
Maybe start to do something a bit different in order to reverse the global embarrassment position you're in?

  25. Capricious is not what describes Chairman Aquaman best. It's meddling and moron! The Canucks franchise is doomed until that changes. Period!
