  1. Or get him to waive NTC and trade him to Montreal, either partial salary retention or 3 way trade with a low cap team to retain for picks

  2. If that's the case, why not just eat a little more than the buyout in retention and get something? Hubby at ~$7.5 million isn't *un*appealing

  3. He’s been meh lately at best. Nice start to the season, but Huby & Kadri need to play together again 🙏. Powerplay not clicking as well this season has hurt Huby also(not his fault in my opinion for this year) he’s always excelled when the Powerplay is good. Guys like Farabee, Backlund, Coleman, etc. are playing better than Huby mainly because of pace of play. The skating & speed have been issues for Huby. He’s still be ok this season, just a shame he’s not as good as last season. Don’t buy him out in the next 2 years at least. He still has good hockey left

  4. Every bottom feeder team has 2-3 players worth buying tickets to watch.

Meanwhile in Calgary, Maloney says this core cannot be changed, coz they can make the playoffs 🤷‍♂️

  5. No reason to buy him out, he’ll help us reach the cap floor when we inevitably move on from Raz, Naz, and Colesy

  6. Assuming Calgary is doing a full rebuild.

Retain HEAVILY and trade him to Montreal for draft capital, b prospects and bad contracts they will have to unload anyway.

Montreal is missing a line 1/top 6 winger, Huberdeau is exactly that and if retained he’ll fit right in.

Plus Montreal do love their local players. Calgary wouldn’t miss the used cap space during a full rebuild at all.

  7. Even if all those young guys were pushing for a spot and playing well, the flames would find a 34 year old .25 ppg player to give their minutes to who are we kidding?

  8. It's the coaching… If you can't play your skilled players to their strengths as you want your system used then the coach is the problem… DeBoer would be better than huska.
It's a joke watching these guys stand in their place in his zone system. Just like Kelowna back in the day till he was told to let the players play. then they won a championship.

  9. I think Huberdeau is basically done. At 34, he just doesn't have much remaining playing life. Some players "die" rather young, and I'm afraid he is one of them. Unfortunate trade choice for the Flames. 😮

  10. I can confirm the Pittsburgh Penguins have talked to Craig about Huberdeau. Dont expect much and we would have to eat some salary. Andrew Basha will not be a top 6. Basha would be lucky to make this team let alone any NHL team

  11. Should just retain half salary and try and get an asset for him, him at 5 mil would get something

  12. I’m sure that you could consider him a $5M player. If you look hard enough, and are willing to retain half of his Salary, I’m sure there’s a playoff team that would be willing to take him. He WAS good, so maybe a change of scenery to a team willing to take on $5.5M for a 2nd or 3rd line LW isn’t that crazy. I that Buffalo has been searching for a “higher level” LW’er for a playoff push, so there would be buyers.

  13. Flames will be nothing going forward… it's evident that this whole organization is enjoying the mediocrity…..sad as it is…..sell them to a group that want to ice a top ten nhl franchise…..please

  14. The guy has done nothing since He has been here. A Minus player every year. Much is given because much is expected. Huberdeau is what happens when you have management and coaching that isn't accountable. When Edmonton who isn't that much higher in their total Salary for the team go to two Stanley Cup finals in a row this tells me Management is the problem, Can you imagine the Multiple Millions of dollars the oilers have made in the last 2 years while Calgary players are Golfing and drinking beer.

  15. Kuznetsov makes big mistakes as well. Maybe forgivable because of his age I don’t know.

  16. I think they should trade him for a bag of pucks and a tuna sandwich. Even if Calgary pays 95% of his contract, at least there will a spot for someone that maybe can play!

  17. Wait at least one more year to see if they will actually be competitive, otherwise keep him, not like he hurts the tank…
