MLS awards the Supporters Shield for finishing top of the table (and then MLS Cup for the playoff champions). A lot of people consider the Shield to be the more prestigious of the two since it’s actually about who was the best team. I wish we could treat the Presidents Trophy the same way instead of saying “curse” every time.
NHL teams are generally closer in competitive balance than the other leagues. Also their stupid playoff format usually guarantees 4 of the best teams will be gone by second round
It’s because Hockey hit different man. Doesn’t matter what you did going into the playoffs it’s any teams game tbh. Thats why NHL Post Season is some the the best Playoff Sport out there. My opinion

It’s an artificial parity with 3 on 3/shoot out wins being worth the same as a win in regulation.
