  1. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they become serious cup contenders for a long time. Scary team, and they have at least two blue chip prospects still waiting in the wings in Hage and Zharovsky, insane. We can only hope the Flames take a page out of their book and commit to a similarly patient, methodical rebuild. So far I'm liking what Conny has done, but I worry there will be a lot of pressure to accelerate the rebuild as the new arena opens, and it will leave us looking more like the Red Wings then the Canadiens

  2. But..but.. there's no 3 on 3 ot in the playoffs. Montreal's regulation wins are pretty low to be the contenders that so many want to claim they are. They may look to have a bright future though. About as bright as the future was for Toronto a few years ago..

  3. Shea Webber walked into Kent Hughes and said to Kent Hughes. "Your next C is #14.

  4. Great analysis guys…..did you see the video on You Tube about the Habs development since the arrival of Gorton & Hughes & their shift towards analytics??? It was FASCINATING!!!!
They get into this concept of "Hivemind". It really explains why the Habs rebuild has been so successful.
    Hivemind definition from the video:
"A Hivemind is a collective svstem where individuals effectively merge their perspectives, knowledge, and decisions to create a singal, unified entity. In a Hivemind. each individual acts as an extension of the entire group, turning the organization into a single, integrated nervous svstem. In this model information doesn't just move between offices: it is shared instantly and acted upon universally, ensuring the entire franchise -from the front office to the ice – is seeing the exact same picture."
They go into how each piece of the puzzle merges their knowledge, perspectives, decisions for the betterment of the team. It was especially fascinating thinking of the concept as it impacted the Habs' draft decisions.
    Check it out.

  5. Yesterday was a win, and 2 goal milestones, but what I took from it was: The kids don't go down without a fight. Thanks Tampa for the 2 points, but also for the many scrums. Normally, we always lose in those. Not just the fight itself, but the penalties after. Yesterday though, the kids were mature, and if 0 in like what, 7 PPs, didn't sound any alarms, it sure has given them something to work on pronto. We couldn't have asked for a better playoffs prep match.

  6. As a Habs fan I am more thrilled for the youngsters who are just having the time of their lives. I did not expect them to vie for top spot in the East, only thinking they would squeak in again. Fun to watch.

  7. Suzuki was asked before the game, if Cole was gonna get his 50th, or if Slaf was gonna get his 30th..

    His answer? "Both."

And he had the main assist on BOTH.

The man knew. And made it happen by himself.

  8. Let's not forget this is the Bell Centre's first 50 goal scorer in its history. The others all played at The Forum

  9. Without bergevin , the habs wouldn’t have a center , Kapanen , Suzuki, danault and Evans are all from bergevin era , Guhle , caufield , struble , xhekaj AND Dobes AND Anderson

Hughes gets all the credit when he arrived in a vary favourable situation , then fans use the draft success as an example ? Hughes had a record 12 picks at each of his last four draft with a lot of those picks were aquired by bergevin or trading players aquired by bergevin , Hughes also let Armia and dvorak away which made the bottom lines and pk weaker , than traded Kovacevik , Lekohnen , mailloux , signed Monty , and texier prematurely and handcuffed himself with the Laine contract , Hughes was also lucky that team didnt draft demidov , don’t call the demidov and Hutson pick genius , anyone would have picked demidov at 5th and if Hutson was such a genius pick , why would you pick Mesar AND beck prior to Lane?

Without bergevins output , the habs be fighting for dead last today

  10. That was the first game I watched all year that MTL played an amazing complete game shift after shift but still barely won the game. The NHL is about timely goals shooting accuracy and msot of the NHL don't have any accuracy they rely on open nets and mistakes and yeah Vasilevskiy made a mistake on the Caufield goal.
You can see trhat when the puck isn't shot right at the goalei they look bad Dobes got smoked by Raddysh long shot and vasi looked bad on Cole;'s goal but for the most part it is players shootign right at the gioalies which siswhy it is anyone's game night to night.
Caufield at times doesn't shoot well either but more often than others he thinks his shot selection very well.
The PP is a real concern the players do not seem to know how to play each scenario either carrying it over or shooting it in they are all doing it wrong nd I blame MSl because this is literally EVERY game the same old song n dance.
it is simple when you shoot it in the D need to quickly jump up to take away outlet passes and when you carry it it needs to be with everyone skating and NOT with the forwards all standing still lat the line.

  11. Bergevin SHOULD get a TON of credit for this team. He left HuGo with a HUGE part of the young core…Suzuki, Caufield, Guhle, Kapanen, & Dobes among others. He also left them with a TON of draft capital, and seriously valuable players that other teams would covet like Lehkonen, Chiarot, Petry, Romanov, Toffoli, etc, who could be moved for even MORE picks once the full rebuild became necessary. HuGo haven't been perfect by any means, but Bergie left them with so many assets that they could afford to make a few mistakes and take a few gambles. One of those gambles became Lane Hutson. I say KUDOS to BOTH Bergevin and HuGo equally. This team is so set to be serious Cup contenders for the next DECADE!

  12. Kent has another thing going for him. He can sell the team he can sell the vision that you could retire with $100 million and no Stanley Cup or $80 million and multiple cups. What do you want? My question to the panel how much now that you’re retired would you pay for a Stanley Cup ring if you don’t have one? How much would a ring be worth to a player like Marcel Dionne? And then the players get to self select winning is worth $20 million to me. winning the cop is worth leaving money on the table for. Because Kent can speak to the regrets of the players that he knows intimately at the end of their careers. You only have so long in your career to maximize your earnings, and you only have so long in your career to maximize your achievements. I think our general manager can really bring this to the forefront. And I think that vision is very compelling and if you disagree it’s all about money just look at how hard these players play when they’re playing for their country and no money is on the line.

  13. The 2 new GM are part of the success of this team, plus Martin behind the bench. The rest is the way they pick the players……way better than Bergevin did!

  14. This team lost twice the the blues when they sucked 😂, most they get is to the second round

  15. Can you not mix Slafkovsky and Russia. He is from Slovakia and has nothing to do with Russia.

  16. Young true BUT half of the forwards went to the Stanley Cup Final in 2021 and the 7th Newhook has won a Stanley Cup

  17. We all wish them the best in the series but, and I don't want to be a bird of illm omen, they'll have the worst and most dangerous element against them, average age.
