The Philadelphia Flyers just could not overcome a special teams deficit on Thursday night in Detroit, giving up three power play goals as well as a short-handed goal in their loss to a desperate Red Wings squad.
Porter Martone showed up, scoring and picking up a primary assist in front of his Michigan State teammates in the crowd, but there weren’t many other bright spots for Philly, outside of the Buffalo Sabres beating the Columbus Blue Jackets in regulation to ensure the Orange & Black hold their playoff spot for another day.

Defensive zone draw, Zegras is terrible at faceoffs and isn’t good defensively on the Kane goal. It wasn’t an icing. It was Tocchet’s choice.
On the short handed goal by the wings, Tocchet used five forwards on the 28 second 5 on 3. We deserved to be scored on.

As bad as that game felt, we still out played a legitimately good team on 5/5. There are always those unlucky games, especially with our horrible power play. I still feel ok about making it in.
We don’t seem mad enough about that Michkov penalty. We were crushing them and then he takes a selfish penalty and scored on.
Tocc said it perfectly, no energy and bad discipline. They had slow feet and slow reactions all game long. Com'on Isles and Jackets lose..
Just a rant but NHL needs to look into the no call inference penalties, every team is guilty of this. You can't do pick plays in hockey, this isn't basketball. Also impeding players without the puck. Its one thing to tie them up but its another to forcibly redirect them towards the boards when the puck is on the other side of the ice. oh and rabble rabble rabble 🤣
