The Montreal Canadiens are reportedly among 15+ NHL teams interested in Belarusian forward Vitali Pinchuk, and for good reason.
At just 24 years old, the 6-foot-3 forward out of Minsk is coming off a 66-point season in 65 games, finishing 3rd in goals and 6th in points in his league — and he’s quickly becoming one of the most intriguing under-the-radar free agent targets.
But what exactly is Pinchuk?
Is he a true center, or does his skillset translate better to the wing at the NHL level? And more importantly… would he actually fit with the Montreal Canadiens?
Shaun Starr and Marco D’Amico break it all down:
What kind of player Pinchuk is (style, strengths, upside)
His projection to the NHL game
Center vs wing debate
Why so many teams are interested
And whether he makes sense for the Habs’ current roster build
Could this be another smart value add by Kent Hughes and the Canadiens?

Hank is a good boy!
Marco what do u think of Josh Eernesse NCAA free agent sound like a good bottom 6 🧐
Marco, please! Stop talking to us about guys who play center in the KHL or any other league and then qualify it by saying "I see him as more if a winger at the NHL level."
I am NOT INTERESTED in anything other than a top 6 center who is actually an NHL caliber top 6 center. Find one of those to talk about or save your breath. The hockey world is lousy with wingers. Find a goddamn 2C already!
"D'Amico: "I could be wrong. I'm not a professional scout."
No, but you damn well should be.
On that note, ever since the video about T.J. HUGHES, I've been ALL-IN on this 24-year-old "kid"!
By the sound of it, his work ethic is off-the-charts, ever since he wasn't drafted. THAT is the kind of player you want in your org. Obviously. But one who has translated his newfound work ethic into great success is the huge draw. Because there are other players with a great work ethic, but who haven't really translated it into their game, be it for lack of talent, for example.
And the one example of this phenomenon is BRYCE PICKFORD. Who started working out like a maniac on his family farm after his 2nd year in junior, I believe, and it has paid off tenfold! And it is a great indication that his record-breaking year is not a fluke. Just the result of really hard work. And like T.J, it has affected his teammates also, who have fallen in step with his first-in-last-out attitude.
I'm really excited to see players like that in the HABS lineup. And hopefully they can lure TJ!
They have enough prospects in the system to fill their holes. They just need to just keep developing, developing, their own
McTavish is having a terrible season. I think the habs need to double back and see if they could acquire him. Fresh start and all that
Byelorussian? I guess he's going to Washington then.
sound like a bigger gally
I think a line of Texier and Pinchuk would be nice in our bottom six. The cap is going up. We could afford to bring him in. We have a good relationship with his agent.
Great information guys. Keep up the great work! Best Habs show rn imo.
How is his skating ? If it was mentioned i missed it
Marco… I'm calling you out in the summer. But I'm also praising you at the same time. You are what I wish I could've been
Hopefully the Habs can get a "leg up" on the arms race for Pinchuk!
The Habs should check with Hank! he knows how to get a leg up.
I trust in HuGo at this point when it comes to if they like a player, he's worth it.
Lets go, lets get a Russian line
sounds like he's exactly the kind of player that the Canadiens are looking for. A rugged crash and bang winger who can put the puck in the net.
Pinchuk, TJ Hughes sign them all! 😂😂😂😂😂
He is 190 not 200.
Shaun, the "off to the Gulag young man" is not your best comment. 😉 I had to say it.
Guys, we are not deaf, we got it from the beginning, most teams are interested in him. Dont worry, we get it. 🤪
Can you imagine him with Zharovski and Demi???
Sounds like a left handed Kirby Dach.
Interesting story about Guy Lafleur’s first 50 goal season.
It’s the 29th of March 1975
Our band’s (Taxi) practice just finished.
I make my way to the forum with no ticket, but with a good feeling.
At the door, a man who is on his way out gives me his ticket, the game has already begun.
I rush to my seat extremely excited , five minute later, Guy scores his 50th goal for the first time of his career.🎉🥳🎊
Goes to show, if we have to follow our inner voice, great things might happen.
Normand 75 years old, Habs fan since I am 5.
I don't believe we can win a cup if we have too many US college boys on the team. We already have 4 and that's enough! The reason is that in Canada, our young players learn to play two-way hockey and use physical attributes to the max, as they develop as young players. College players have more skill training, but, are comparatively soft and hesitant when things get physical. Canadian boys are taught to be more rugged, determined, and rarely lie on the ice squirming after a hard hit. We are already a soft team. Don't make us even softer!
