Great pick, and impact player. We need players with talent who are over 200 pounds now. Hard to be impactful under a 190 pounds. Why we need some size. Another reason our team has a hard time getting close to the net.
This is why I trust Todd Harvey.
And we need a new goalie and we need an elite defenseman. And new management.

Cootes ain't tough enough to play in the NHL.
Cootes is definitely like Horvat, I have been to a few of his games this season and playoffs against the Rebels. I have met him too, he is going to be the future of the Canucks. He may not be the Captain of the Raiders but he is treated like one of the leaders in the locker room. He will be a very integral part of the Canucks in the future!
Center by positioning are usually drafted in the sense they are drafted due to their ability to play a 200ft game. This Cootes has and the fact that he is projected as a NHL center means he is a great player but what I think I am hearing is more about his projection as point producing player and this is where I think alot of people question his ability but that isn't usually why you draft a center. You draft centers based on puck control and defensive abilities while hoping offensively they can move the puck to highend point producing wingers. He is going to be a good NHL player and hopefully Van can actually figure out what they are requiring or have already acquired
I’ve always thought he was comparable to Horvat. Both playing wise and leadership 🤷♂️
