So glad Wedgewood seems ok after that hit into the net. Let's go Avs!!
Hopefully the injuries aren't serious and everyone is back in a couple games. Kadri probably won't play the next 2 games at least imo.
And on one hand im happy they won. But on the other hand its kind of irritating how they did given the goalie conversation.
Because of course they almost get 40 shots on net with more than 1 or 2 goals to show for it while also not having those weird defensive lapses for Wedgewood. But for blackwood. They'd have probably lost this game -1 to 0 if it was possible.
Wedgewood played great but I wanted to see blackwood in net for this one just to know. As I thought he played well enough for that second chance against the blues. Because if they put 75% of that effort in for blackwood that they did Wedgewood tonight they probably win that last game against the blues too.
You are going to give up more shots in the game that you played back to back. The main difference I am noticing between Wedgie and Blackwood is rebound control. Wedgewood is swallowing up the puck more often and Blackwood makes the initial save but giving up some rebounds.
When the Avs really lock it down on defense, they are pretty much unbeatable. It is great to see Val heating up – he's going to be important post season. His two way game is so essential.
I think it comes down to trust, when you KNOW you have a goalie that can make that big save, you play YOUR game and dont over think the defense.
Blackwood just seems like if there IS a scoring chance, its going in. When you have that on your mind while in front of him, you play different, over thinking things that shouldnt even be thought about. Beating themselves essentially.
I think Blackwood needs a GOOD game, shut out, or at least one where BIG saves are made, to give the rest of the team that little bit of belief in front of him again. 🤷🏼♂️
I'm worried about kadri. I've broken my hand twice catching stray pucks like that. I now have strips of adhesive padding in my lower hand glove to prevent that.
We can no longer afford Crosby. 3 Centers making 7 plus million the next couple years.
